Sooo...ArcheAge?

Howdy all, me and one of my friends are looking for an MMO to play and at this point we've played through most of our choices until new (Closers, ToS, MS2 etc etc) games get released/get here. Anyway on to the question!

How is ArcheAge? I was initially interested but the "class" system seemed mostly unappealing and I heavily dislike point and click based PvP being important (but that is something I can get over if the rest is good)

Anything interesting happen with it since release? Is it -worth- playing? (Totally subjective question, but I'll ask it)

Any reasons to do play or not are appreciated, if it isn't I guess we'll just go back to League until Closers or ToS hits the shores.

TL;DR Is ArchAge worth the time? Does it look like it will persist?

this, but i'll expand on it a little more. ArchAge, imo, is one of THE best available games to play. The fact that it is a sandbox and economically driven means that those bad decisions that the devs/publisher makes can and will ruin the game. The game still has a huge player base, the pvp is awesome, there are tons of things to do in the game, but again....the decisions can ruin the game and so far those decisions haven't been so hot.

Good game but bad company, the game should've stayed how it was in beta

game is great, had lots of promise, unfortunately XL killed it. again. and again. and then they fixed some of it, but quickly killed more.

Basically there was a glitch where people could duplicate items (use them without consuming them) and they did nothing about it, in fact, they actually banned the people who abused it but you know what they did? They unbanned them! I dont... my brain... *brain explodes*

... It's sad because the game had so much promise but they ruined it... *waits patiently for Black Desert*

Trion is the only flaw.

the game itself is brilliant.

If you have a lot of money irl and are willing to spend it on a game in order to upgrade your gear and get access to some restricted features then play Archeage.

Also if you can keep a clean conscience knowing that all your achievements in game came from irl money.

If you are not rich irl then play Path of Exile.

The secret world like cash shop, buy what content you want instead of a monthly fee? No one is complaining about TSW or Defiance.
Cash shop items? No pay to win here from when I played

Trove
From what I heard the cash shop is pointless unless you cant move a muscle

you notice some sort of trend here where the Trion made games have perfectly balanced cash shops....?

Rift: Terrible game all around.

Defiance: Terribly grindy and awful Borderlands clone that you not only have to pay into in order to progress at a more reasonable pace, but also have to pay into for their damn DLC to even access the most powerful items in the game that you otherwise can't get if you're just playing for free (and the difference in the weapons with and without the DLC is pretty huge). Also, the developers of Defiance have very publicly harassed their own players in the past - dismissing the various concerns of those posting in the forums as the comments of a "small but vocal minority"; effectively spitting in their player's faces.

Trove: You literally cannot acquire every item in the game nor complete the achievements/mastery levels without buying items from their cash shop and the bundle packages which have exclusive items you cannot obtain anywhere in the game normally if you're just playing for free. And then there is the matter of aggressive moderators, censorship, and deletion of people's entire creations over perceived 'offenses'. Someone for instance built a harmless windmill for their cornerstone, then had someone complain in the forums that the blades of the windmill resembled a swastica which then resulted in their entire thing being deleted. Imagine trying to play Minecraft but then having to worry that everything you painstakingly create could just be vaporized while you're logged out of the game at any time.

TL;DR: Trion is crap and their games are crap. At the rate they're going, they're basically becoming the Electronic Arts of online games. And if you don't think that's true, just look at their stupid Glyph program they make you download and install that's basically the same We-Want-To-Be-Steam bullcrap as Origin. :facepalm:
