Pso 2

the US version of phantasy star online 2 for PC just launched, on microsoft store only (yuck!)
with a lot of region changing and messing around i managed to get it running from Europe, even got a usa xbox1 giftcard activated for some AC. so i guess its a good thing you dont need a VPN, u can even change the region back afterwards.

second problem i ran into was the game being stuck on some 640p resolution, so that was fun figuring out to fix too (let me know if u need help with this)
and theres some insane amount of framerate stuttering going on in the lobbies, which wasnt present in the japanese version at all. multiple users with much better rigs than me have this happening too.

i feel like microsoft store is really gonna prevent this game from becoming a success, but i heard they only have a year exclusivity.
anyway enough ranting, the game itself is great and we get 8 years of content right away! who else is playing?!

I have the game ready, but not really playing, been refreshing Ship Selection every now and then waiting for new ships to be added.

2020-05-28: still waiting ... one simple fact - 3 Ships simply cannot handle the population right now, and lots lots more are unable to get the game running.

yeah i ended up having to reformat just to get it to work lol, because my windows updater broke itself a long time ago, and because my pc isnt updated im not allowed to download this game. idk wtf microsoft is thinking. its still infecting the game like a cancer with all these lobby stutters, i just know its microsoft related because just to friend someone u have to connect to the gamertag page. everytime a player renders in it stutters.

The game is somewhat bad.. stuff like not being able to minimise the client, options not being changeable in game, the interface not being the best. It's not very new player friendly trying to find certain npcs . This was my experience of getting the game ... So as i live in Europe the game wouldn't show up on the store for a start which is stupid as the games not even region blocked. So i went and logged into the US one through my web browser and added it to my library. I download the game through the Microsoft Store , i thought ok i am ready to play now . Then i hit game start ,lol nope download this other patch. I start to download it, then literally everything else i am doing online is slowed down.. even loading web pages would take some time. I have fairly decent internet.. Now today i try and launch the game and nothing is happening.. Scratch that it eventually opened it just took 80 years. Patcher showed up in a Japanese and now my game launcher is fully Japanese. They should of done tests.. it's not like the game has ever been on the microsoft store before. Think i am going to uninstall the launcher turning Japanese was probably my last tolerance with the game.

They seriously should of done some tests on pc before launching privately... I reached level 3, while the gameplay is somewhat fun and the voice acting good ,alot of things are scuffed. How they haven't added the ability to minimise the client and change options in game after all these years is shocking. Microsoft Store may be bad but so are the developers for not improving on stuff like this! or having a decent client that doesn't change to Japanese ect..

All the errors and MS are ridiculous.

Launcher/Game Interface in Japanese wise, may be a result of the system's location. There is a simple fix: after selecting a Ship, there is a selection for Languages - Japanese or English for Voice, Interface, and Chat (probably system messages, events, exp, meseta etc. in chat window).

2020-05-29: still waiting patiently for new Ships with my gf, planning to go Ship 5 if available to avoid the RP Community heading to Ship 4.

they found a way to fix it today by renaming pso2.exe to pso2launcher.exe (change old launcher name to whatever)
this bypasses the launcher so you wont be able to update, but it magically fixes all lobby lag.

as for the game not wanting to minimize, try have a background app/window to alt tab to, or ctrl+alt+tab
if that doesnt work u may need to try get this game in true fullscreen mode. \Documents\SEGA\PHANTASYSTARONLINE2_NA\user.pso2 open with notepad and scroll to bottom and set VirtualFullScreen = false with fullscreen to true.

The game is literally downloading the whole game again in Japanese.. i have the Japanese launcher now for some stupid reason. The game has no minimise button in window mode. Ok i can click my view desktop button fine.. BUT that's totally scuffed i just want to minimise that one window not everything and i refuse to get another extra thing to fix the game. I don't want to do extra stuff to minimise the game either for a feature they should of added by now . If you can call it a feature..

yeah thats really strange how to changed to japanese lol. all i know is the tweaker lets u switch between jpn and english so it might fix it, but i understand you got tired of all the troubleshooting

edit: game is super fun really, earlier we got a full table in black jack and we just chilled in the casino xD then a urgent quest popped and everyone left at once. its things like these i love to see in mmorpgs

the game is so over the top and silly but so amazing at the same time lol, it almost feels like a mobile game with all its achievement rewards, daily rewards, weekly rewards, mission pass rewards, SO MANY REWARDS! its like i cant handle all this dopamine.
now normally i hate mobile style games but this one doesnt have any of the bad aspects.
its hilariously inbalanced as well. you can create 3 characters, do the weekly quests and gather quests on all of them and u get MILIONS. so you dont even need to pay money if you want cool outfits. the only real benefit i recommend is getting the 1 month premium set from the AC store.

this game has countless of little ins and outs you learn over time, like inventory management. you can shift or ctrl click to select a whole bunch of items and instantly sent them to your storage while in the field, this also works with selling, try it, it'll save you so many hours.

Hey Ab since you've had more time to play, do you eventually get meseta armor/clothing options beyond the starter ones?

the blue booth in the shopping area sells a bunch of basic costumes, but most other costumes are gotten trough AC gacha/scratchcards, however these are all tradable so you can find a ton of cheap stuff in the personal shop/marketplace

open the "?" terminal and select personal shop>product search, then you can narrow the search down to outfits for your gender only.
some costumes may cost a mil or more, but like i said in previous post, just doing the weekly quests on 3 characters alone already gets you more than that :P

Yeah the ragol set or just getting premium/expansion slots was what i was thinking.
Though I can't play atm, I don't have the launcher bug everyone else does, instead i do reach the games main screen but then a big box comes up with nothing in it and that's it. SO waitin on their support team to get back to me.

ill probably have to come back on the sonic/ragol edition carrying a bug of its own.
there are currently reports of the game deleting itself for people who buy these dlc packs, possibly because the dlc/editions itself claiming to contain the game. and since microsoft is so incompetent i can see it deleting the game just to download the dlc+game all over

How do you know it's not the ancient PSO2 launcher causing the issues? .. plenty of games work with the Microsoft Store just fine.

because this was never an issue on the japanese version of the game. i dont know how exactly it works but everything seems to be linked with microsoft, like the whole gamertag thing was also never there in the japanese version, i feel like it needs to connect to it everytime a player renders on the screen. the issues were having is just a few out of hundreds lol. worst case scenario the game deletes itself and becomes a invisible hardrive space hog because windows didnt feel like u should have permission to access it, even though you're signed in as admin. u should check the pso2 reddit, the problems this microsoft store cause is insane.

the pso2 tweaker team is also blaming the microsoft store btw, and they have been working on this tool for more than 8 years.

Sadly the tweaker didnt help, i even used their file check which did find 35 missing files, but it sadly didnt resolve my issue.

A friend on discord with slow internet like me, literally had the launcher download the japanese files. SO he waited hours just for it to try and run and then be ****ed and corrupted.

ouch so i guess the launcher is broken too then xD oh well at least sega is looking into it.

Just because it wasn't an issue with the Japanese version doesn't 100% mean it's the Microsoft store at fault for everything. Sega should of tested this all out. Heck i bet if it was on Steam or whatever alot of the issues could still happen as nothing would of been tested for the pc release. I doubt it downloading the Japanese version of the game is the fault of Microsoft.. i HIGHLY doubt that. I've never seen any game download a foreign version before, after it's been installed and fully patched/played.

That thread was worthless i'm not downloading the whole Japanese version just to switch to English. No my pc region isn't set to Japanese . For me this is a fault with the actual games launcher. The English client should have no connection to the Japanese version at all.

I suggest ANY new player to watch this video! I set it to the specific part where he shows a tip for choosing missions. Watch the whole thing, this was the biggest "OMFG" moment I ever had. That is just 1 example. I suggest watching a lot of this guys videos to get a decent understanding to the game.

cool :) im having a blast with the game, there are so many whales playing this game that the prices of costumes are dirt cheap now, and there are sooooo many lol, love how theres not 1 player in the game that looks the same. i think this game also still has the most character customisation options ever. you can even alter the position, size and angle of your accessories, or adjust the holster position of your weapon, i love it. you're in power to remove all clipping issues

oh god i had that happen yesterday after buying the ragol edition. windows wanted to remove my base game in order to instal the ragol edition but both versions are exactly the same lol. i guess i was suposed to buy the fashion pack dlc instead. tweaker bypasses the whole silly microsoft store now thankfully. at first i got an error when opening the game again but https://na.arks-layer.com/setup.html instructions helped.

Thats the thing man, i hadnt touched pso2 for a few days lol. I logged out after having fun in the casino.
Anyways, i fixed it by retelling tweaker where pso2 was, it redid its permissions, then file checked 3 times over.
Im in now thankfully

Nice to hear good things about the game! I'll see if I can take my boyfriend along.
