Reputation is about quality... not quantity. So no... you will not got any rep for how many posts you have no matter what...
And no it wont take years. Admins give out 10 rep and mods give out 1....
Once we get users who can give rep things will go a lot smoother. It's just a matter of time.
And there i thought posts counts would be converted to rep, or half post counts to rep.

Anyway, I have a little suggestion. When people can rep, could you make a little rule saying that someone can give one rep out each day, but they can't rep the same person until a certain amount of time is up. I think that would prevent people from giving out rep to their best friends and so on.
One quick question; Why do moderators have/need reputation?
