True, but like Sandman said, the goal is 100. Notice how no one has a high rep at the moment. If someone has 12 rep, a lot of members either wonder how they got it, or they praise them for a job well done. If anyone gets to 100, then we'll know that they are considered a 'good person', and most of them would not abuse the system. There might be one or two times were this would be abused, but people aren't dumb enough to ruin a golden opportunity for something as little as revenge.

It might be permanent but anyone with the chance to do this will probably do it in a positive way. Sometimes, you see someone with a fantastic post, and you want to reward them, but there is nothing you can do. With this rep system, it'll give us a chance to reward those among us who deserve it, and show everyone how nice/cool that person is.

I'm sure Sandman has thought about that, as made it impossible to allow members to rep mods. Moderators are there to help keep flame/spam at onrpg to a minimum,; not for us to judge on how cool they are. (although it still happens :3 )

@Sandman: I think 100 would be good, but my question still stands; how often will the mods be giving out rep? If it's once every era, then you should tone down the requirements, but if it's whenever the mod feelt aht someone has done good, you might want to make it harder to achieve, so more people will try for it.

I think that's the main problem with this; not knowing how often mods are going to be giving away reputation.

I think I would have given you an add to your reputation because you tried and most likely won this debate, but i guess my point was a just a piece of swiss cheese.

But I still don't think the change in the reputation system would work out.
............ The way the Administrators and the Moderators would want this change to work out.

If the change does work out the way they wanted it to, someone just ban me.
well, don't ban me or give me a warning, but something else that I would not like besides hacking.

I said its a good guage... Not something we would use and say "OH 500 REP... MOD!!"

In any case, i'm hoping with the changes that the mods will give out rep, or it will at least become normal for them to go.. "Oh good post/contribution" *+rep*

I have an idea, and it may take a while to implement, but how about we keep the rep AND the post counts (or at least still keep tally) and the guage fills up according to the amount you post and the amount of rep you have. For example, you get like 1 point on the guage of 100 for every post you make, and for every point of rep, you get 10 or 20 points. Then, as you post and get rep, you unlock certain perks. I think it's a cool idea. ^^

You post and get rep? No, no, no. It's a bad idea really, it encourages more spamming to get perks.

I like this idea, a moderator add rep based on the content of their posts, by quality instead of quantity.

No, you don't get rep automatically by posting, but you get a small amount to the guage that gives you perks. Hell, it doesn't have to be 1 to the guage of 100, it could only be about .1, it'd still add up if you posted validly because of the rep you would be getting at the same time. I don't think it would increase spam more than it already is and the spam has been dying down lately. My whole point is that the posts add to the guage to make it faster if you get your rep while posting, but that the posts don't have to add too much. Even if they only added .5, I've got 800 posts already and that adds up to 400, a total amount of 4 perks for all the posting I had done and not to mention all the rep I would have gotten in that time period. So, as you can see, I wasn't planning on having them add this without thinking it out first.

EDIT: HOLY CRAP! Exactly 800 posts! Ironic...

800 posts isn't a lot, i could get it by spamming in 2 weeks. Not to mention it is unfair to other members who has less post counts.

The problem is, we haven't got a perk system yet, so this discussion is pointless.

I said it was an idea and I was referring to Sandman's earlier suggestion of the perk system. And I'm pretty sure you would be caught and warned several times before you even hit 800, not to mention potentially banned. Then you wouldn't have any of your perks, now would you?

I mean no offense sandman but wont that take years? In my opinion if you made it so people with 500+ posts could give it out lets say.. once a day or something then more often as they get more rep that would be better in my opinon.

Reputation is about quality... not quantity. So no... you will not got any rep for how many posts you have no matter what...

And no it wont take years. Admins give out 10 rep and mods give out 1....

Once we get users who can give rep things will go a lot smoother. It's just a matter of time.

Anyway, I have a little suggestion. When people can rep, could you make a little rule saying that someone can give one rep out each day, but they can't rep the same person until a certain amount of time is up. I think that would prevent people from giving out rep to their best friends and so on.

One quick question; Why do moderators have/need reputation?
