Useless emotion?

What do you think is the most useless emotion? I find emotions useless besides pain. If your in pain then you know your alive.

Happiness, happiness means vulnerability, happiness is short lived, if happiness never existed we would never know the difference, if happiness was the only thing to exist it would be normal, and not considered 'happiness'.

Other than I guess hate might be a pretty useless one if you wanted peace.

so, you would rather live without happiness than without grief, self-pity, and envy? and don't say it would make you a better person, as without happiness, we would achieve nothing. happiness is the carrot tied to the end of a stick, and without it, there is no point in chasing down dreams and making them reality.

Hate, anger, envy, can also drive a person towards a goal, happniess simply being a reward.

so, you would rather people hated one another, and had only that as reason to create, than have a reward at the end? that isn't human nature. we strive for rewards above all, gratification, and you would only get that from crushing others if you had happiness, or some form of it.

Without happiness you wouldn't drive yourself to do anything, you'd pratically sit around and do nothing all day because there's nothing worth working for.

Happiness is not holding you back, it makes you work harder. Well it's supposed to.

Anyway, I think the most useless emotion is humor. You can certainly live and be happy without it, but it's nice to have. Humor is my favorite emotion though. ;D

Hehe, you persume I base this on personally experiance?

Happiness is the cause of hate, when happiness is taken from someone, hate is caused, if happiness never exsist, what would cause hate?

good job, ridley. I agree. happiness is what tells you that you are doing something right, and it's designed into us very deeply. sex for example, makes people very happy, because it ensures the survival of the human race.

Happiness is the ultimate goal of everything. How useful would all of those "negative" emotions be if there was no desire to do anything about them? It would be like having a car, yet having no use for it.

Also, if we're in pain, what would help us feel better? You'd feel that pain forever, it'd build up, and you wouldn't be able to stop it.

Hope can provide a better drive than happiness at times.

Hope in what? Faith in what? Both are belief that something better will come of the present situation, that something ultimately being or bringing happiness.

both, in my personal opinion, not enough to make up for lack of happiness. if you have no happiness, you have no hope. faith maybe, but hope is shot, i think. you may still have devotion, I dunno though.

Ok Ok just for you manic how about this, Im not emo or anything but say i had to get ride of a feeling. It would be to feel afraid or fear would be nice to never be afraid of anything and honestly not be.
