I need help getting into beta testing for $$$

okay i've wanted to get into beta testing games for years now. i was wondering if anyone can give me a helpfull push in the right direction without telling me to google it. also this is the kin dof thing where you get the game say a few months early and get paid to play it.

Take the open internship at SCEA, I will be making a post about it on the forum shortly if you wanna sign up and wait abit(need to make sure its still open/ I could use site members).

The days of being paid to test games are no very limited.

Most game companies advertise on their site sign-ups to win chances to visit their studios and perform (free) playtests. There are still position wher one would be paid to find bugs, but that would mean constantly replaying small bits and pc of several parts of the game, that when it was finnally finished, you wouldn't even want to hear its name uttered.

there really isnt any mmo games that will pay testers, unless you actruly "go" outside to the office and apply for the job :)

Actually, I don't play Halo. My father Hijacked my rig while xFire was running; however, I have been known to play it every now and then.

And most companies ask for college students.

Like i said i'm screwed. i'm really good at passing myself off as aan eighteen year old or something online, but i can't go walking into a corporate building. hell i'm not even 15 yet, so yeah i screwed. also ncyphe your dad plays halo........sweet. i wish i could even hold a conversation with my dad.[don't ask or i'll hunt you down and torurture you to death with a metal spork and a curling iron.]

It all depends on how you present yourself. Ive been beta testing games by Bethesda Softworks since I was 12. I tested F.E.A.R when I like 13 and that was because I had a parent okay it(me and my dad both tested it).

Yeah, I started low, worked high myself. When I was around 13, I started working for Alienwares Tech Support department as a sandwich boy, now I work as a Tech Support Employee

now who would you give money for beta testing. o.O i know you want money.(swear at me anytime if this made you feel bad. if you're goal wasn't money then im sorry o.o) but thats just not.. right lol, don't tell me you thought the games had many players because there were getting payed. or ill find your house and smack you with a 17year old pickle. o.O or you're talking about console gaming. i didn't know you got payed to beta test it rofl - _-

If your talking about console gaming (no money) then the Playstation forums do random selection of memebers that are interested in that type of game. They ask for your information and the developers send you the game. If your talking about play tests (might get money) then you have to go the the developer's studios. I know that Insomniac Games resides in Burbank Calif. If your talking about stuff like MMORPG then you won't get paid. Remember, they're letting you play the game they've been working on hard and could probably get some magazine or experienced gamer to do it for free.

They used to pay people for Alpha testing Single player games. It's much easier to find someone to sue for breaking an NDA aggreement if you have an actually face with the signature.

But, yeah, those days are pretty much gone. The only way one could find a job as a tester would be to prove you had great skill in game design and a nack for finding stuff.

When people test games, they're not playing, they're hunting the same 3 min map 6 hrs at a time.
