Alot of people dont quite know what their talking about when they bash on WoW, almost all of them havnt played it, and like some have said, havnt reached past level 20 and havnt seen Crap about the game, the PVP is the best ive seen in ANY GAME, and ive played a crapload, The grind for LVL's isnt bad at all, its VERY fun actualy after uve ran most of the instances once. The GRIND on getting Reputation is pretty damn long, Very long in some cases, but i garentee, GARENTEE the outcome of ure grinding WILL NOT be useless in the end, if u pick what u want to grind on, and GET it, ull see the outcome, of either a SWEET item, or items, or some SWEET crafting scrolls, black smithing, leather working, etc. IT isnt a bad game what so ever, and if u seriously got confused after 4 days. u dont need to be playing games what so ever, and need to go back to RL dolls. i mean damn come on.. ive seen 6 yearold with 40+ characters... honestly, how hard can it be, the game is SOOOOO damn easy to pick up and set down, its crazy, u log out in a town, log in, walk out kill some stuff, time to go to bed cause i got school in the morning and ima get a spanking if i dont go to sleep, come home from school, log in, boom ure at mobs, kill something, do a quest, some pvp, trade abit, make some cash, time for bed. the game is simple and easy, almost ANYONE can play it, even those that are slightly mentaly challenged could EASILY play this, the END game aspect? oh boy, that stuff is fun as hell, its not so much as Grindy for anything, BUT items, but there is SO MANY ways of getting some Decent items with out spending 102 hours in 1 instance for a pair of gloves, u can PVP for SWEET items, u can just Craft sweet ones, or even buy off AH, its insanely simple...
So for the game, it gets a A+, everyone who isnt a moron and cant figure the game out in 10 minutes, is going to give it past an F, but they just dont know what their missing i guess, so go back to your insanely pathetic maple story.. and wait for maple story 2, or crap story 5, what ever retarted game u play.. FYI i dont play wow much ne more cause my friends are playing FF11, and i follow them sometimes on games they play for the atmosphere, i still have my WoW accnt active and play every other day. Oh and if u cant pay the 15 bucks to play for a freaking month, cause its P2P, dont eat mcdonalds for a week and BAM theres ure WoW, 15 bucks worth the fat in your ass cheek, or 15 bucks worth the sweet playing time, ON ANY game really. Your choice, OH and no credit card? idiots... go out, get 1 of those CHARGE visas, put cash on it, charge it to that, BOOM ure in. OH BUT WERE NOT OLD ENOUGH, or WE DONT HAVE THOSE IN OUR TOWN, then ure shit out of luck, and it Seriously sucks to be u, cause 90% of the free games ive played around here, are sickening, and P2P is always better...in most cases..
heh your playing ff11 and you think WoW has a grind? My friend and I barely didn't even get to 10 in ff11 before quitting lol, all tho I kinda wish I stuck with it. But, dying to bunnies is depressing and demoralizing.
WoW's PvP system is based on the battlegrounds and arena system. There is rarely any PvP on world outside these two areas.
The battleground maps are 10-40 man on each side. (I think, dunno about the new maps in the expansion). These maps range from capture the flag, to destroy the enemies captain NPC. The rewards from battlegrounds are Honor Points and tokens which can be used to buy items such as jewels, weapons, armour, and consumables (Healthpots and Manapots).
Now the Arena system is the new content from the expansion pack of WoW, The Burning Crusade. These maps are based on smaller group PvP battles. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 are the minimums and limits for this system. It also requires to form teams. Each team has a maximum number of people, (Forgot the exact amount I think its 10, but you can always replace members) and must play together to enter the ranking system. The ranking system is based by battlegroups (each battlegroup has like 10 servers in it). The reward for arena are arena points which can be used to buy weapons, armours and items. Now the thing about this ranking system is not based on Wins vs Loses. It actually takes in account skill lvl or rank rating. A higher ranked team killing a lower ranked team will gain less rating points, while a lower ranked team killing a higher ranked team gains a much greater rating.
Also the same applies when you lose (If you higher ranked team gets killed by lower ranked team, they will lose a lot more rating than a lower ranked team losing to a higher ranked team). Rankings for your teams are updated at there site, and you can search and look up whose the best in your battlegroups in 1v1 or 5v5.
Now, with all that said, you can see that WoW's PvP system is really based on a ladder type/tournment system. These maps are instances and are seperate from the world maps. To me, I enjoyed this a lot. It really focuses on teamwork, skill, strategy, your ability to micro and most importantly communication! (ventrilo and teamspeak is a must in arena). Right now the new Arena content is the most popular due to the items you can purchase with points and obviously the ranking system for bragging rights :)
What I did not like was how the battlegroups where set up. In WoW there are many servers (Like 40+ servers). I hated the fact that each battlegroup had certain servers only. They should of made it all one server so everyone can have the chance to play against eachother.
There are a lot of other techinical things I left out in PvP, but you can look that up at there site if your intrested. The main point here is, the PvP is not lacking, it is just different style. Some people enjoy this, while others don't. There is still large scale PvP where guilds attack other factions capital cities and such, but that is mostly for fun. The real PvP in WoW is from Arena and Battlegrounds maps to show skill and to compete for rank and rewards.
Just want to point out that you haven't played enough games if you even remotely think WoW has the best PvP. I've played WoW since it was in CBT and been a paying customer since Day 1 of the servers. I was there when it was a contribution system, when it was switched to Honor System, when BG's were implemented, and even now in the Arena System. I've taken a priest to Rank 13, 2 rogues to Rank 11, and multiple toons to Rank 10.
PvP in WoW can be fun, but to be good at it requires nothing but time commitment and no skills at all. The time commitment for gear within the PvP system was a joke early on, got fixed just prior to TBC and now has been broken again. WSG, AB, EOTS, and AV require "0" kills to win. You can actually get all PvP gear outside of Arena by just being there. World PvP gives such pathetic rewards that it's not even worth doing except when in the mood to gank. I could probably write 10+ pages on how crappy the PvP system is and have done so before on the General Forum of the main WoW site. The thread actually had over 50 pages of responses most of which agreed before the thread vanished and I got a 3 day forum ban for disruptive behavior.
If you want to play a game with good PvP that actually requires you to take part in it and be good, then I highly suggest Dark Age of Camelot. It's RvR and BG system puts WoW and any game currently available to shame. Heck, Shadowbane, Lineage 2, and such have better PvP systems than WoW. In the near future look for Warhammer: Age of Reckoning (Made by Mythic the makers of DAoC) and Age of Conan as the potential successors to DAoC as best PvP.
WoW PvP can be fun, but it's still overall has a trash system. The Arena system was a step in the right direction, but is hindered too much my Paladin overusage, restriction of skills, and requires more time to get gear than raiding. Whether normal BG PvP or Arena PvP it's a worse grind than Raiding. When it was the old Ranking System however it was even worse.
Should have made it far enough to die to Tonberry's. :p
I miss Tonberry's. :(
Seems like we finally got some people here who know what they are talking about! iso trashing the game wo knowing anything about it!
LMAO, this is one of the most idiodic posts I have read.
The ones who dont like WoW for their experienced opinions, do not know anything? But the ones who praise wow, with their own opinions and stereotypical BS, knows what they are talking about?
You are a fanboy to make that comment. You have failed in reasoning, ten folds.
Nice one McWoWzer.
And more stereotyped BS. Keep the crap coming fanboys.
as a game WoW is good, but the community which makes game good or bad makes it bad. (if you dont understand what Im saying I mean that community is rotten piece of dung) About one check on Official forums made me sure of that, and I lost interest in game which players keep thinking they can say to GameMasters/developers what they are meant to do, all the time.
Meh, the players on the forums can be very ignorant and idiotic, but in all fairness the GM's, CM's, and Devs can be just as bad. Besides, Blizzard Devs have learned that you always listen to the loudest outcry of forumtards rather than fix the game and work on balance issues.
About the reason why many people playing WoW....
They dont know better games, it'sthe same with runescape. People dont know better.
there's NO better game than WoW -_-'
im not a fan boy , i dont even play wow ...but when i look at the features and stuff...omg i would like to play it though
True , but anyway , you can atleast see how is the gameplay and stuff ,so i think that would have solved the thread starter's problem ^^
World of Warcraft is in my opinoin, steps ahead of most MMO's development wise. The combat system is quite good and more interactive than most click to attack games, its quite similar to Lineage 2 etc but in WoW you can move during combat which adds alot to PvP.
There is a tonne of skills, meaning alot of opportunity for strategic fights, theres probably more skills here than any other game and they have balanced it quite well and are always releasing patches to further balance the classes.
When I first looked at WoW, I didn't really like the graphics, but if you put the graphics options up and your PC can support it, wow, the game looks awesome.
Every MMO has a grind, lets be real. If you want to be high level in an MMO you have to invest time into something thats going to take a while, World of Warcraft is no different, but they've added loads of quests which makes the grind a bit more fun, sometimes quests get repetative but there is a lot of fun quests in the game too, for example theres one where you have to fly a bird over a city and throw bombs at the enemies which is alot different than go and find me 10 wolf pelts.
The price tag is what a lot of people hate about this game, you have to buy the game and then you have to spend money every month to play it. Personally, I buy a lot of games so I don't mind buying games, and paying around $10 a month for something I'm bound to play for atleast 10 hours a week seems worth it to me.
I recommend this game 100% also theres a free trial you can download and play it before you buy.
Try 120million+. That is from subscription fees ALONE! Plus you have new people buying the game and upgrading accounts and buying TBC still. So, they make probably over 130million a month now... -.-" Plus they have money from other things like people buying other games and stuff, but that doesn't really matter. WoW is Blizzard's big cash cow, but that cash cow is a hell of a lot of fun...
"Alot of people dont quite know what their talking about when they bash on WoW, almost all of them havnt played it, and like some have said, havnt reached past level 20 and havnt seen Crap about the game,'
-You seriously think you need to be level 20 to have a general idea of what the game is about ? lmao
"So for the game, it gets a A+, everyone who isnt a moron and cant figure the game out in 10 minutes, is going to give it past an F, but they just dont know what their missing i guess,'
- huh ok ? now you only need 10 minutes ?- i tough you said you need to be more than level 20+ to figure it ?
enough said, FanBoy
this is the one question I really hate to hear...
Whether or not a game is "good" is up to you to decide. You can hear 90% of the people on this forums say it sucks, but would it really matter if you come to enjoy the game?
My suggestion is...try it.
What you find in this thread are other people's opinions about this game, not your own. Don't let them influence your decision. IF you find even the least interest in WoW..try it out for yourself. You may like it, you may not. Great. At least now you've formed your own opinion about something you've TRIED, not HEARD from others.
Personally, I like the game. I don't like it in the sense of playing 3 years straight hard-core like many do..but I play hardcore for a few months..then take a long break..then come back. So far it's all the enjoyment I need when I come back to play from a break.
WoW isn't a PvP game. It's a PvE game. You've merely listed the PvP aspects.
DONT DO IT TO YOURSELF AND SWITCH TO FFXI. I already made that mistake and after a week straight of just looking for parties and getting nobody, and not being able to solo anything....AT LVL 12! I figured that was enough of the garbage game that is FFXI. However, some people will actually try to say it is better than WoW..........rather laughable imo.
WoW is a very good game. Not without its flaws...but a very good game. The game is the most polished you will ever see and has a wealth of things to do (whether it be trade skills, gathering skills, leveling, instancing, battleground, arena, world pvp). I will admit that the PVP system is not the best, however it is doable and I have found the competitive nature of the new arena to refresh WoW pvp a little bit. If PVP is what your looking for i dont know if WoW will be right for you, however there arent any better pvp games out right now. You may wanna wait for Darkfall Online( that is if it doesnt turn out to be vaporware)
But if your looking for the best all around enjoyable and well planned game. WoW is it bar none.
P.S
I dont wanna hear anything from the Anti WoW boys about not playing enough mmorpgs to know. I have played more than you so deal with it
Let me explain some nice cons about WoW. 78% of the communty is immature and I mean 12 year old kid that barely passed the fith grade immature. You cannot curse anywhere except in guild chat or you can and will be warned (yes by nine year olds.. not kidding about them being nine year olds either) At high levels guilds do ONE sometimes TWO raids a WEEK a WEEK on the high level instances so if you ever actually get near or to the max level you're going to be very sad when you have to wait a whole week to even do a raid to get new gear (which this game is all based on, gear) and sometimes you wont even get it. I suggest you don't switch. The areas feel small, the community sucks, it's almost impossible to find a party at higher levels because they just judge you by your build and class, at high levels you'll have to wait a week to even do a instance (if you don't do it with your guild and just some random guys if you even make it which is doubtable because non guildies are always morons.. anyways if you even make it they'll ninja all the gear <_<) I really reccomend you stick to Final Fantasy where there's a nice and mature community. Even the 30 year olds on World of Warcraft act like 11 year olds. Also yes this was in bold text so the people thinking about switching would know this. I never got to 60 but I did get to 40 six times and I've quit the game three times. I don't know everything about it but I know the gameplay sucks and just ask any WoW quiter and almost all will say once they quit they wanted their money back.
