It's not that music has gone to crap, just the crap music has become popular.
If you still look you can still find the same old great music that you used to know and love.
I myself still find new music all the time that I enjoy.
Finally got some Ok Go albums and I enjoy their stuff very much. I suggest you check them out for some good rock.

Where did all the music go?
It is waiting for you to get off your behind and find it. A lot of the good music is on record labels with shitty distribution and laughable print runs that just might go under next week. Quite a lot of good music isn't signed at all, and it is up to you to support the guys to make sure they don't break up tomorrow and get real jobs (This has happened with two of my favorite bands already).
The radio isn't about exposing you to good, new music, and it hasn't been for many years, unless your local stations have some awesome specialty shows.
It is the same with television, which is just as bad as the radio when it comes to forcing garbage down your throat. Again, this changes with specialty shows.
Nowadays, you have to hunt. You can't just say "Oh screw this" and go listen to The Who 24/7 on an Internet Radio station.
Good music is out there, and I'm not just talking about my opinion of what good music is.
Oh, and if you blame Hip Hop/Rap for the downfall of music, you just might be out of your mind.
Even i wonder whats going on with the new released albums now. Nothing pretty much thrills me anymore when i listen to the radio, all i listen to i what i put on my mp3 player, everything else is busted.
BTW, have u known that lil wayne has become the top choice music just recently for people to have. Out of all the CDs i made, there were at least two or three songs with him featured.
Let me jump in and and rant about rap radio for a second.
There are two mainstream rap stations in my city.
They play the exact same crap
Sometimes they play the same crap at the same time.
Sometimes they manage to play the same crap at the same time during DJ (as in turntable) sets from two different people.
They have the same artists doing the same tired ass shout outs.
They both claim to have new music when the new music is nothing but the next single off of a six month old album from the same artist that did the tired ass shout out.
They both seem to be attached to ten songs that they play for the entire year, and when the new years comes, they replace five.
Okay, I'm exaggerating, more like twenty and seven.
I used to be a big listener of the rap and rock stations in my area, and the amount of repetition on the rap stations was enough to have me give up on them as a whole. Repetition exists in rock radio as well, and it is very obnoixious, but it isn't on mainstream rap radio levels. Not by a long shot.
I mean, two stations playing exactly the same garbage for an extended period of time, then have the nerve to run negative ad campaigns towards each other? GTFO of here!
Stop listening to crappy mainstream radio stations. All I hear on the radio now is Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park, Yellowcard, Simple Plan and stuff like that, and no offense to the black people on onrpg, but all the frickin' malay people here in Singapore are trying so hard to be black its annoying. All they listen to is Hip-Hop, RnB and Rap now. (Again, no offense to those who enjoy those kind of music)

This is why I hate music. Everyone bitches about what is better. It's just music guys. It's not like any one song is going to change the world (even though The Beatles got close... XD ). I mean seriously, if you don't like it, turn it off and move on. It doesn't require a thread of how your bitchin about what other people like. It's called advertisement. It's not about playing the good music, but drawing in the largest amount of people you can. That way, the more listeners you have, the more advertisers will pay. It's a business, not a book club.
Personally I'll give anything a try. The good thing about not being biased, is that you don't look like a **** trying to find a good radio station. There's always a radio station to listen to. The majority of " " black people that don't like country, haven't listened to country and if asked to name a country song, chances are, the number one choice would be "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk." If asked to name a country singer, "I don't know," is a top answer.
Most people just don't get it. Most of you rap haters out there that say you don't go with the mainstream, your hypocrits. Your just going with a different stream; a rivet. You see these " " select white boys that do listen to rap and you think that no one accepts them, black or white, and so most of you don't even give rap a chance. You sit there and repeat what someone else has told you: that being white and listening to rap, doesn't mix.
The music isn't crap, society is crap and the more you conform to society, the worse it's going to get. So from now on, i'd like to ask someone when your listening to a different type of music, to go at it with a truly open heart and you might just enjoy it.
Every Rap / Pop / Hip hop / Pee Poop That comes out in this few years Are Crap... BUT THE MOST SONG THAT I HATE RIGHT NOW! IS THE INFECTED MUSHROOM NEW SONG! And dude, who listens to radio this days O_O?
