How is Turf battles non-grind?
Grind fest-
-World of Warcraft(despite the various other things you can do you are usually grinding for exp, or items)
-MU Online
-Fiest Online
Anti-grind
-Guild Wars
um....
did I mention Guild Wars?
Not alot of MMOs require no grinding, which is why there's not alot of super-great MMOs.
I stick to room-based games like Survival Project and Fantasy Tennis, Lunia etc.
i think eudemons online was one of the best mmo's i have played i got to lvl 78 in a 2 week span not going all out all day either. Also there are always events .
Turf battles is easy leveling but got boring.
I got to like 70 in a day using the exp skill thing
I find Cabal has very little grind. You can quest to 40 pretty easily, and the optional dungeons are good exp if you can pass them.
I couldn't stand eudemons for some reason.. D: or was that Monster and me? o_O
Games w/o grind (or at least I didn't notice it):
Currently: Dofus (This is actually fun...and community is pretty nice)
Lunia (just a great game)
uh.. WYD (bot =/)
Turf Battles (if someone lvls you)
Last Chaos (2x XP + Combat PT)
GW (No grind what so ever)
I've never felt any grind in games like Mabinogi or Dungeon and Fighter, the games are alot of fun, so I don't really look at the exp rate, unlike in MapleStory.
Well, personally, I wish DnF would still work for me, weirdly enough, I can't plany anymore. However, Mabinogi is coming this winter,I personally can't wait(though I'll like playing the korean version). I also forgot to mention Eternal City, this game is awesome, and you can equip gears and weapons of any level, wich means you don't need to grind to get better gears.
SilkRoad is grindy, but it's actually fun.
jejejeje,
there is grind in all games. full stop.
the only thing you are discussing here is personal opinion, and or whether the game hides the grind well or not.
Grind's starting to become an opinion now.
How exactly do you distinguish grind between fact and opinion?
Grindfest MMORPGs :

Barely Any Grind Coz of Numerous Varied Quests :

Grindfest:
All GAMES
NON GRIND:
Stop Playing Game and earn some real money and a hot wife or maybe a couple
What the hell? Have you even tried real life? It's grindy like hell.
Not to metion the deadly PvP and all the glitches when you drink too much..[Bad joke/]
But I agree, grind is more a matter of opinion now.
Mmm, McDonalds BigMac = +10 hp!
^Really gaaaaay joke.
Grind:
Kal Online.
i played guildwars enough time, to know that there's an item grind and gold grind. why you think its one of the most targetted game by gold farmers?
I remember the whole grind farming for good weapons or valuable materials...
sure theres no exp grind since lvl is limited to 20, and story engaging.
but when you need better armors you'll have no choice but to grind. heavily.
wether exp, skill points, or items, there's always grinding in an mmorpg.
worst is exp.
Grindfest:
Maple Story
Last Chaos
SilkRoad
SOF
Barely Any Grind:
Perfect World
Eudemons Online
Grind can be an opinion, but it some games it is extremly evident that there is a large grind (cough maplestory cough)
Maple Story looks like a Satanic Cult... Once you get in, you realise it sucks and its ruining your life, but you cant get out...
why ppl keep saying that a quest based system isnt a grind?
Grindfest:
Maple story
SRO
RO
Non grind:
Guildwars
WoW <- the game hides its grind very well o.O
Running back to town and talking to npcs is a bit better than just staying in a area and killing endless hordes of monsters for hours, and who knows you might actually get a quest that is actually worth reading and fun. And im guna pray that some mmorpg company is going to come out with a quest based game that has mostly interesting quests rather than kill stuff quests.
well,it depends. have u ever tried Cabal online? all its quests are fun and worth reading but...go like this:
start in town 1 officer, talk to officer in town 2, talk to officer in town 3, talk to a mage outisde town 4 (a damn walk), talk to grocer in town 2, go kill this (low lvl) mobs to get 10 of this,go back to town 2 grocer, go back to town 4 mage (another damn walk),go back to town1 officer. 5% exp reward
i'd have done 5 times more exp just hunting mobs, and in less time then travelling to all those locations.also its a ****** way of leveling, cuz sometimes u can get good exp,but at the cost of barely using ur skills, hence u arent getting skill points.
and in CO skills are the most important issue, not levels.
a failed quest system,if u ask me.
GrindNation:
Maple Story(But you can buy 2x exp cards o_o)
Not so much grind:
Risk Your Life 2(RYL2), Has the interactivity of a FPS in which u click to attack o_o and even at lvl 30 you are still getting liek 2-4% a kill.
(Action is kinda like oblivion, but you attack alot faster for melee)
Space Cowboy(It's a pretty big file though), Well, Because I love the action. The gameplay just makes it all fun, there's also high drop rates from mobs, so you might find good items on your way, so grinding didnt realy matter to me :p
Yeah but who is stupid enough to do that when you get 2.5x exp in a party?
Maybe for a emo Real Life is grindy, but for me I'm leveling too fast.
Dude, how can you say PW has no grind when you probably haven't even got past level 30 yet.
Use the SEARCH ! ! We already have tons of this kind of threads
1 this is pointless
2 all games have grinds
well,Satio put a nice question i have been asking myself. how can some1 say that PW isnt grindy when most ppl that say so are like under lvl30?
if im not wrong,PW level cap is 99 or 100,rite?saying that at lvl2x it isnt a grind means shit.
just to name a few, Knight Online or Xiah, are games where 25 levels or so where done in a breeze, but after that the game became an unbearable grind.and KO caps at lvl70 (or maybe 80 in the new patches)
i'd like a lvl86 e.x come here and say "one quest give me 20% exp and takes me 15 mins to do,and i still have a few more quests to do",then i'll believe that the game grind is really that low.can we have a high lvl PW player telling us how it really goes?
cuz i have that horrible felling, that tells me ppl are getting lured into PW with a false promise of quick-and-fun leveling.
