Paid for WoW.
nv paid a penny for mmo... or other stuff that you can get off the Internet >.<
I even made money for playing mmo...
Never paid and dont plan to. The way I see it, theres no mmorpg that'll keep me happy forever, so spending money on it now will just seem like a waste later. Only form of payment I like with MMORPGs is buying to play in the first place. I dont agree with monthly fees or paying for cash shop items.
It all depends on what you are looking for in a game, console or mmorpg. There are a lot of console games that are well worth the money and you can play for hours and level up and do extra stuff. Disgaea 1 and 2, Phantom Brave and Dark Cloud 2 are some console ones I have put in well over 100 hours in and I'm still not done. I've put about that much time into PSU and my character is near the cap so I consider that to be worth the money.
I play what interests me at the time though. I don't really care about having bragging rights in any console or MMORPG. What's fun is fun and when I find something better I move on. How long you spend playing a game isn't what makes it worth playing, it's the amount of fun you have while you do. In general I've found MMORPG's to be more fun in the way that you can interact with other people but I find console games to be more interesting in story and gameplay.
I've never spent money on an MMORPG. However, my mom once bought SWG thinking it was a regular game. Dunno if that counts.
int over 500$ in total on maplestory in my entire career...
also spent around 150$ in flyff
and i have bought all guildwars,
bought archlord,
bought wow and still am subscribed
well i bought Guildwars and i regret it,i could have gotten something better.
but as for payed for a subscription only 7 years of my life was wasted on EQ.
never and never will
You pay for what you get.
If you want a crappy qaulity hardly upgraded GMs don't care about users oppioin, many bugs, enjoyment ends quickly piece of crap type of game.
Don't pay for an MMO.
Its that easy, most games from P2P to F2P lose so many GMs, bugs fly at you from everywhere, and the game turns to fail. Even with Cashshop. P2P gives you much better qaulity games, and only games that start Cash shop can last because they already got people digging holes in their pockets.
You think Warhammer Online is going to be free? You think a game like RO which everyone loves is going to be free, you think WoW, or LOTRO is going to be free?
Hell no! Go on a WoW private server from playing the real thing, to me, it was a piece of garbage, community was worse, so many bugs, and the lag was outragous. The GMs were dicks, and soon after the server will shut down.
I've found all the games I've P2P for were great, and lasted me over 2years. Like Anarchy Online, I bought the expansion, and holy shit that was fun, gettign on alien ships and such, attacking peoples citys, all out wars! It was sooo great! I never had that much fun when I was F2Ping.
You pay for what you get. Pay for a bootleg DVD of a movie, it wil be shyt compaired to watching it in the threatres. Its how it is.
mmorpgs are only a temporary kind of entertainment for me. i'm never gonna fork out a single cent. you may say i'm selfish but to me, i will not waste my money on something that's virtual. after all, reality comes first
Then why do you have 1,292 posts on this site? Reality comes first my ass crack.
Do you have a TV?
Or a console?
Or any games?
I havent paid for any MMO. Its just mad haloing. Ive just been going off of free mmorpgs but im freaking out for halo 3
I never paid for an RPG, but I paid for an MMO game, recently.
I spent 10 bucks on a MMO Arena game called Rumble Fighter. I got some game cash to get an exclusive fighting style. I'm actually glad I did. I wasted so much more ( $30-$50 ) on console games I barely play.
Once, I spent ~25$ on Silkroad. Then I sold the account for ~40$ so I earned some money after all.
I'd rather spend money on Console games than MMO.Most of you say MMO's last forever(figuratively speaking),but some peolple like me can enjoy games long after completing it.Though it depends on the game.Plus I barely have any interest in a specific MMO,so why spend money on something I'm gonna hardly play.
BUT,if I had to spend money on MMO's they'd be;
Ijji Games(GunZ,Gunbound,)
Lunia(I played it a few times and loved it)
And if Arad went english I wouldn't mind spending on that either. But as you can see
I don't even play that much,I'm still level 7 XD
Diablo is b2p
if you count it as a MMORPG, i did
well i kinda did p2p Diablo 2 too i used to bot 24/7 and that wasted lotsa electricity LOL
i believe paying for a game is a waste if it is only for a limited time.
say monthly subs for WoW, or 30 days use of items in Gunz.
once thats over u dont see it again until u re buy, but keeping items for ever lets u come back to them after 3 months of action. And sometimes those games just become boring and u wanna stop paying.
b2p are great since u get to keep them, unless its b2p then p2p, then thats just a waste and ur gonna end up wasting money.
this is all in my opinion.
Never have and never will (unless you count b2p stuff), not even in cash shops. Whats the point of paying to play something for a few months/years and then quiting? This is how I see it, the average fee for a p2p is about $10. Let's say you stick with an MMO for 2 years. That means you end up paying roughly $240 altogether. Unless you sell your account back for 240 or more, it's been a huge waste of money. I can think of other things to use $240 on other than games.
another topic become a flamer.... why cant u guys settle this elsewhere?
okay okay. sorry. carry on
NEVER!
Why not?
F2P - I had fun and thats all it matters. If the game is grindy, not fun, just wasting money.
P2P - Why would I when there are PS.
spended 230 on cashshop for perfect world chinese and that was the only game that I spended money on.
i almost had a feeling about to get some stuff off flyff, but last minute i got bored of leveling.
so now i have a flyff char which has 50 million, and havnt played for 5 months.
I pay yearly yearly for a few P2P. Some are mine and 2of of them are my son's.
Money is just....... money. As long as you know how to manage it and invest, P2P games are just nothing really. I keep one account in my bank strictly for games, consoles, PCs, just the toys for the family. Its gains interest quarterly and I use the interest to pay for a years subscription to each game.
Why do I have so many P2P games? I rotate through them so I dont get bored. I admit I still try a F2P now and then, but almost all of them lack the quality and service I come to enjoy out of the premium MMORPGs.
I don't have much money, thats why I don't use it on MMORPGs. Maybe later.
everquest, everquest 2, dark age of camelot, world of warcraft, Ultima Online, Guild Wars, think some more but i forgot which i paid for ;p
My everquest account has been active since December of 1999 (just for one account) now i have 2 accounts that are active and always have been.. Both accounts have all 13 Expansions ;p. So ehh you do the math on how much I paid for my EQ accounts so far lol , its still a fun game
I payed over 200 euros on stupid habbohotel :hmm: ( yep im dumb )
and some money on maplestory cash shop..
If buying games count then $48 for Night fall. If not, never. Online games never last me long.
Mm...the way I see it, if you truely enjoy playing an MMO and has the means to spend some cash on it, i don't see any problem with that.
First MMO I started spending money on - Runescape, i was pretty addicted to that, for a couple of years.
I buy almost all of the new MMORPGs as soon as they hit the shelves and give them a go, and give them an extra month or so on top of the free one to see if they'll patch anything good in. I've probably paid the most for WoW though - Since February 2005 until now.
Some money on cash shop at ijji, acclaim for Soldier Front/ 9dragons.
Honestly, if you can work with it and know what to do, it won't seems like a big deal. I usually take a couple of months break between my WoW sessions. Everytime I get out of playing it though, i didn't lose a penny :P.
The only game I ever spent money on was Renewal and that was my first 'proper' online game. No, not 2D side-scrolling. But something puzzled me was, after a few months after it turned open beta (er.. can't remember..), where I had already quitted since I ran out of cash buying game cards for it... the company practically vanished. :O They went bankrupt I heard. But how can it be..? :/ When there were so many players then..
EQ1 (4 expansions, i think), EQ2 (3 expansions), AO (2 expansions), WoW (1 expansion), DAOC, SWG, CoH, CoV, LOTRO, GW.
never spent a cent in a cash stop though, never will.
Wow, a lot. Probably way over 3-4000$ on online games only (10 years of gaming online)
I see it as a hobby, it's stupid to don't pay for something if you can but you won't because it's "only a game"
If you play it, it means you get somewhat enjoyment out of it, and would most likely get more enjoyment if you payed. It's a hobby for gods sake, If I truely loved sports and did sports almost every day for 10 years I would more than likely pay an equal ammount or even more for sports-equipment, fishing-equipment or whatever.
Pay for what you enjoy and like to do, I have absolutely no single regret over any online product I have subscribed for or bought through a cash-shop. It would be ******ed to have unless you were extremely disappointed with the product.
2. Because im not aloud too and looking at the features of f2p i think f2p is much better
I never paid any MMORPG before, it seems pointless for me, *Plays, plays* Bored* Dumps game*
FFXI - 2 years.
PSU - 4-5 months.
I've never played a Free mmorpg which even comes close to comparing to most p2p games.
Never payed and never will. Waste of money.
never paid because i live in israel and USD is 5 times more expensive then Israel sheqels
so lets say i want to pay 20$ it'll cost 100 israeli money >.> **** that
and my mom wont let me use her credit card anyways(she dont trust the internet D:<)
