Hopefully Chicago gets the bid for 2012.
..but even then, I'm going to the Team USA 2008 boxing qualifiers in Chicago.
Well, I hate PETA.
There, now everyone is square.
That was rather disgusting.
What the hell are you going to use cat skin for anyways?
Yes, I think that's cruel. Yes, I think animals shouldn't be treated that way. No, I'm not some hippy animal activist.
Now who the heck wants to follow and support a person like this:
And yes, she's holding a chicken.
Yeah some parts of China eat dogs and cats.
But Beijing is doing quite alot of change their society for the better.
What's the link between Olympics and that anyways? Hmm.
Of course it is. I have more reasons than that, of course. I just felt like listing a single reason.Quote:
Wow, what an uninsightfull position, to say you dislike a country for that reason.
Understandable. Environmental protection requires a lot of funding and cooperation by corporations, and animal rights requires frequent inspections.Quote:
Noone wants it this way, some countries in the world (like china) simply cant afford environmental protection, or treating animals right, doing all that is a luxery, that we can only afford by abusing and having abused those countries weaknesses to an extent; Just count how many "made in chinas" you can find at your home and spend a mere thought how they where made in china.
What's a promile? Sorry, it's late, and my automatic spell-check in my brain isn't working. I'm not being a smartass and trying to point out your grammar problems. I just have no clue what a promile is.Quote:
For all that bothers you in this video you most likely payed a promile of it as well with your money.
Excuse me, but what emotions? The =[? I'm perfectly justified in being =[ for all those =[ cats and dogs. Just look how =[ they are in the video!Quote:
If you are interested in a better world, you leave aside those emotions, a country isnt a person and just like a mountain wont care if you hate it or not, as you act now you help noone but your own ego. I think your point is unfair towards those people.
However, unfair to "those people"? Which people?
Well, sorry, bud, but the Chinese have too many problems of their own for them to be caring about me, some American, disliking their countries humanitarian, and environmental policies. Stripping people of their political and humanitarian rights is really uncool, and I am perfectly justified in judging a country based on how it treats its own people. It's not unfair to say that a government represses its people, massacres protesters, arrests dissenters, and all other really uncool stuff, not to mention gross environmental negligence.
Perhaps I should have been more specific and say I disliked the government of China, and not literally China itself.
I thought it would be pretty obvious, but I guess I'll have to explain anyway.Quote:
What's the link between Olympics and that anyways? Hmm.
It sends a clear political message when you host an event that is celebrated all over the world in a country that repeatedly violates humanitarian rights laws. Pretty much, it says "That's okay, we'll it host there anyway, despite how awful you are to your people."
Well you can hate them all you want but thats not going to stop China from becoming one of the next power nations of the world, and if you want to be ignorant and try and denie that do that but you will just be hurting youself in the long run. China has a different way of doing things, and I see no reason why you should hate them. THey have ****ed up huge amounts but are changing, they were never on the bad side of a world war, only the victums of one.
I don't hate them, I just dislike them. Big difference. And never have I denied that they were not going through an economic surge. (Whether or not they become a power depends on more things than just GDP, which is what the media is all focusing on.) Where are you getting this from?Quote:

Yes, they have a different way of doing things. How is that relevant? Are you trying to make the point that "it's different, not worse or better"? I can't tell. And I've already told you the reasons I dislike them (not hate.) If you can't see them, then you haven't been reading my posts, or you think that it's just fine to massacre protesters, and repress political freedoms.Quote:

Changing? Probably, yes. For the better or the worse? That remains to be seen.Quote:

And what's the world wars have to do with it?
Lothia, I'm disapointed. You're usually much more intelligent than this. Half of your points are irrelevant. Get some sleep, man.
I think you disappointed the rest of us here. The fact that you mentioned "I don't like China" says alot about your.... maturity.
err... this happens in every country... =.=
you can find videos of animal abuse and cruelty from all the big countries on youtube ...
how can u "dont like china" just because there are a few ppl who treat animals badly... it's just too big of a generalization...
and what does it has to do with Olympics... =.=
Sort of just skimmed through this topic, and I'm having breakfast so I probably don't want to see the video.
Animal cruelty, AHAH. Oh ***** thats funny. Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I probably am. But is this topic actually trying to show the obscenity of eating dogs, when countless farm animals are born only to be slaughtered when they're out of use? (I don't eat dogs either, mind you.) Dogs do score more cute points than cattle and chicken, but I don't consider in myself in the position to say anything about how horrible it is to eat dogs, being the regular beef jerky and chicken strip person I am.
Excuse me? Criticizing a country based on how they treat their citizens is "immature"? You have the strangest idea of maturity that I have ever heard.
I have been talking about animal cruelty if you bothered to read my posts. Apparently, you haven't.Quote:
so u dislike china due to animal cruelty...
cool, why talk about censorship police brutality or executions when we can talk about animal spanking...
We also have one of the highest standards of living, a low violent crime rate, a nice environment, a politically free populace, and all of which with their humanitarian rights. Besides, Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings were justified at the time. More lives were probably saved in the long run because it ended the war sooner. However, being a poor country with overpopulation is no excuse for what China is doing.Quote:
and anyway, there has been a nation that nuked more then 200.000 civil ppl including women children and olds...and they have been Olympic Hosts twice.
I'd probably be eat dog if I had the chance, but no, this topic is no longer about animal cruelty. It's about China, and them breaking humanitarian and environmental laws, and being able to host the Olympics anyways.Quote:

True, geological location and natural resources have a lot to do with a country. However, them being poor is no excuse for police brutality, or a lack of freedom of speech, or things such as that.Quote:
That would be a diffrent issue and point to a valid discussion;
Sadly they as well can only work with the natural resources of their country and struggle hard to get out of the pittyfull position that the world has enforced on them.
changing those type of things is easier said than done.
I wasnt talking about geological or natural resources and I see no connection between them china being a rleatively (however not in the absolute) poor country. I was just hinting that, if huge tasty duckheaded salamanders where natively lifing in Europe, the western world would call them normal food nowadays. However, because we are "rich" we wouldnt treat them that bad on their way into the pot.
I thought you where talking about animal cruelty as you said in the same post...
Being a poor country has a lot to do with the likness of armed conflict and civil war; its not an excuse but the reason for such as that.
Your thread is a fail in my oppinion.
I mean, do you feel qualified to lead a country like china in a better way than the current government does? Do you realy think that you can bring magical happiness to Millions of people whith just banning all that stuff you dislike for some reason?
I guess you should step forward than and present the easy 5-points plan to the ultimate super-ultra-extravagant future of your dreams. Everyone will be put to shame by the supperior life that you can offer;
Either that or something diffrent.
Ah, and concidering the "clear" message, gl in trying to make bad things worse, this concept has already worked so many times in history.
No, and no. Where did you get the idea that I could? If you read my posts, you'd notice that I never said those two things ever. Stop making assumptions, because I don't debate with people who don't read my posts.Quote:

I don't have an easy plan for a utopia, either. No one does.Quote:

Which is why I think the Olympics is a good place to start, since it IS a start of the international community saying, "We're not going to let you treat your people this way."
You're right, this thread is a fail. No one here seems to give a crap about human or animal rights.
Xeno your first post has nothing in it that shows what you hate about them and I wasn't willing to read 2 pages of hate. (or dislike)
You have a right to hate whatever the hell you want to hate. Doesn't make you any more or any less of an asshole/ saint.
In china they hunt for wild dogs...So not like those house pet dogs
It's a DOG eat DOG world...
....I seriously dislike China now.
I wish they had chinese people chained up in small boxes and thrown to the ground.Probably wouldn't teach them a lesson, they eat anything.
I saw countless videos from China with cruel and brutal kills of animals, from crushing a chicken to kill it,killing dolphins in the most painful and slow way (They let them suffer instead of a quick death.By suffer i mean watch the dolphins bleed to the heck of it) and now this.
I'm sure they'd execute those dogs pretty swiftly if they didn't need to be transported. I can imagine the reason they were kicking off or dropping the cages is because the animals would probably bite them, especially the dogs. Can't blame the animals but it's reasonable to understand why the people would go about doing it that way as well. If you really think about it. It's the cost of civilization and someone has to do the dirty work. If we were all just nomads, you'd just be doing your own work.
@Darc, they don't cut the dolphins necks and watch them bleed for nothing. They are draining their blood.
Ya'll should know, never trust a video released by PETA. Their videos are always released favoring biased views.
Yes this really did happen, but it doesn't mean that every cat/dog slaughter house is like that in Chine.
You should also know that in countries like China, their roaming unclaimed pet population is huge, this is merely a way to control the population of cat and dogs.
It is cruel, but face it, those animals where off to slaughter, I wouldn't be surprised if some slaughter houses in the US treated live stock the same way when it cam in.
Oh yes PETA are a bunch of hypocritical A-holes who seek power over animal activists
PETA speaks out against animal shelters putting down animal, but in the office of business, they put down animals themselves. Hey essentially say, "We are god."
Unfortunately I wasn't rattled by the video. Seeing these things time and time again don't get to me anymore...
Anyways, I hope China is going to be empty of tourists during the Olympics. That would send a big message to them to shut the **** up and improve the quality of the shit they export to us.
profit is more moving to most people than civil rights
you cant really blame china alone... you gotta blame the big businesses who deliberately set up in china since they know they dont have to worry about polution restrictions, minimum wage, worker welfare etc etc
I don't think it's cruel. If we kept chickens and cows as house pets, we would think it's cruel when people kill them for food.
India probably says were cruel for eating cows anyway.
Indeed this is disturbing. My friend went through this stage before. They have shown some reports that they cut their necks of slowly, because their adrenalin makes their meat more tastier. Of course I cannot prove this, because I am just the messenger. I have only heard this from a friend.

Alright, let's just say that the country who host 2012 Olympics, I just find a bunch of videos of their citizens doing something some people dislike and I comment "I don't like that country". You get the idea now? That's really a stupid way of don't like a country.
And about that, that's not the worst I have seen.
Why is China hosting the Olympics anyway?
that shows a huge ignorance in military.
Chinese military potential has cuadrupled in the last 15 years,as well as modernized and updated.
China's armed force is close to the 2.8 million active soldiers in uniform ,the largest military force in the world. approximately 1 million reservists and over 15 million militia back them up.
They have enough megatonnage, missiles, and bombers to hit the United States, Europe, its asian neighbours, and Russia at the same time.
They also have a potential manpower base of 200 million males fit for military service, available at any time.
America had the greatest military in the world after the WWII (prior to it [and almost until the end] except for manpower it was rather similar to the british army, and vastly exceeded by German army ,had they figthed 1v1)
nowadays the potential of the american army is more presumed than showed, seeing how they usually pick their targets amongst underdeveloped countries with barely any army or means to defend themselves...awesome nation, ready to make its inhabitants proud of mass-bombing cities and causing hundreds of thousands of civil casualties...
