I refuse to believe that there's anything else in Norway besides snow and vikings.
WOWzie, Norway?
Their prison system is scary..
nice place to live.
the NHS could be the best health service in the world if only the stupid government didnt keep rinsing it of all its cash with their bureaucracy and bullcrap management.
and that's why I'm moving to norway, pure nordic epicness
heard there was a "sled/ski/board" thru mcdonalds there
I'm surprised most of you didn't know this. Norway, has always been one of the top, same with Switzerland and one other country. They are neutral countries and have different taxes that we don't. They pay a higher amount of money in areas but they get so much more back. They are number one in a large amount of rating, from freedom to health care. But France is much more well known for it.
Fox, I believe that Alaska has one of those as well.
I thought it was gonna be Canada.:-/
I like where I live :]
Even so, as I said, I live in the capital of Norway, and I've never heard about this prison. I have a feeling that a lot of the story of how it really is and why it is like that, is left out of this documentary.
In general this documentary is very biased and almost kinda propaganda-ish. I find that kinda ******ed, cuz even if they had a more realistic focus and showed Norway in less glorified way, we would still have come off as a much better country than most.
Even though most of our prison don't look like that island(if there even is a prison liket that here), most of our prisons are top notch... Low-class prisoners of petty crmes, are allowed computer access, can take up schooling, and how we have excellent cells that pretty much look just like tiny appartments, more or less.. Of course, the more dangerous crimminals get a rawer deal.. However, our "Life-sentence" is only 21 years though. You can't sit any longer than that. Even so hardly anyone gets it. Most people are out by 5-10 years even for serious crimes... But I think that's horrible personally.
What they forget to mention, is that if you do something crimminal, it sticks to your papers forever, and you'll never get another job, or get accepted back into society if you broke the law. If you do something serious, even though, you won't sit for eternity, you'll become an outcast, and at a 90% chance, you'll never get a proper new shot at life.
America is a violent country, that's what it all comes down to on the "peaceful" side of things. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for violence. We fought for our freedom with anarchy; we murdered our mother country's troops, boycotted their goods, and did everything to ruin the King's day and at the same time won our freedom (and eventually killed it, thanks Federalists).
The reason for our retaliation was that we did not want a socialist-monarchic government, we wanted freedom in our economic system. Why? Because the monarchy was corrupt, it abused its powers in every way possible even though they did have a parliament.
That is both the error and downfall of a socialist or near socialist system such as Norway's. You are still giving the government power. That power being your money. They maybe helping you with your medical needs (and whatever else) but they do not have to do this. This is their choice since they run the place. And since it's their choice and their place they can change everything very easily. House rules, always. Doesn't matter what propaganda they spam, house always rules.
With the change in that choice you can either get a world of freedom and self-governance or a 1984.
Note: Every government has its flaws. The world needs to start over. Anarchy is the only route. Through that is self-governance: the true form of freedom.
Moral of the story: don't trust your government. No matter what flavor they're coated in.
Another note: This documentary is very biased. You have an extremely left director giving a documentary on an extremely left country. Look at everything in a neutral view before you start sucking the fat, *** crusted cock of a Hollywood "God".
Yet another thing to add: Oil is a big market that has been keeping Norway alive. If you look at other governments under welfare such as Sweden, they are bound to fall apart.
TL;DR version: Anarchy is the answer to freedom, not the government "recycling" your money which is asking for an inflation and your freedom.
If you don't get what the **** I'm saying: http://www.cato-unbound.org/2007/08/...han-you-think/
Raskal I am sorry but I am probably taking what you said incorrectly, but there is no way in hell that the problems with the US can be summed up or minimized to just violence. The US has huge amounts of problems, from our government, enviornment, companies, healthcare and much more.
People can give the US healthcare system all the smacktalk they want. But where now do all the government officials of EVERY COUNTRY go to have surgery........ the US OF A.
Socialist healthcare is ******ed.....ffs just research Canada
