If you can't proof the existence of something does that mean it it does not exist ?

religion in this example provides a means of SELF HELP. at the turn of the twentieth century people began to turn from the old ways of religion to the new fad of magic and the occult. there were rituals you could perform which would bring you a bountiful harvest or make your cows healthy. the point is people were seeking alternative ways to help themselves to feel that they actually had some control in their lives.
if religion gives people a better sense of wellbeing and control, if it makes them feel they have a way to help themselves and others then thats all that matters.
if mega atheists believe the world would be a better place with everyone walking around saying " i shit on your theory, its totally wrong, heres how it really works, heres the real reason behind it, you cant help yourself. modern science can tell you where you are wrong but it cant do shit about it. yeah your god doesnt exist and when you die nothing will happen, by the way good luck with your terminal cancer which modern science cant cure, yeah thats right we can shit all over your religion but we cant save your life, enjoy your slow death" well i dont want to be part of that world.
believing in something isnt just about being right or wrong. it isnt about getting one over on your opponents... although alot of internet atheists think thats what its about.
religion is about giving people hope and a faith in something which cant be broken, being religious doesnt mean you reject all science. having faith in something is (i feel personally) important. people who feel the need to prove themselves 100% correct and their opponents 100% wrong (on both sides) in my opinion are lacking something themselves. they attack that which they see as opposite to themselves because they dont like the idea that everyone else has something which they dont. (works for alot of other things too)

I do believe in the evolution theory, but I never considered it a fact.
What I don't get is people saying they everything has to be created by something. So they gave me a reason that god has to be there to create the universe, the earth, humans, etc... But what created god? He didn't just magically appear out of nowhere.
Eh that was a half completed statement from me more of bashing religion than anything else. Was just saying this one day i went to church it showed our pastor in some remote part of africa going around and converting a bunch of people, then proceeded to mock their previous religions. I also notice a lot of other christians that do that and it's unbelievable that they would mock them when they are essentially the same way. The mention of the drought/flood praying or whatever was merely an example that we used to entirely rely on 'God' as the reason for why something happened. Yes belief gives you a sense of wellbeing but I believe that is only to cover up your own insecurities and fears. One such example is someone who goes to church because they are afraid of death and it's a last ditch effort to prolong your existence (through going to heaven). I know thats not everyone but there are still those people and they are the ones that make me hate religion. Many people worship something only because their parents did and thats how they were brought up / fear something / seek security from what they believe to be something higher.
I belive in god heaven hell ect because if there was no God where did color come from and living organisms. Where did orgasms come from? A tiny explosion in the middle of knowhere could not have created a cell and than bacteria without the help of a God. Pope John Paul #2 even said that beliving in a God and evolution at the same time was ok. With the complexity of the body I do not belive it came out of a random explosion and than evoled to us without the help of God. Many people think the bible is literal but the number 7 was used in the bible alot and it means over a long period of time. There is evidence all over you just have to be open minded. Ok im done with my rambling on.

Is that why the earliest of those manuscripts is from the 2nd century, far from long enough for legend to creep in and destroy the accuracy of the text? Is that why the first 4 books of the Bible are eye-witness testimonies, one of which was written by a man who is considered by the literary community to be on par with the greatest of ancient writers and historians because of his thoroughness and information provided?
