It would seem really odd to me if this was correct but whenever I try starting ROW, my antivirus program detects a virus from one of the gameguard files. I'm using AVAST Antivirus 4.8 Home Edition.
Does anyone else have the same problem?

its pretty normal an AV detects gameguard as a virus
it hides the exe from row on the proces list and mostly that will be taken as a virus
Thx for that info but I'm still unable to play the game because everytime I start the game the virus alert pops up. And even though I choose "Ignore file" I get some kind of error for gameguard and the game shuts down. How do I solve this?
get rid of avast
Avast rox, but mine never said any gameguard or ROW had a virus..
Then, try to put that file on like the exception list.
Avast detects everything
I may be cheap but, its the best it owns norton, to me, since i used that 2+ years..
McAfee > world of warcraft
OH YAH, i forgot to mention that AVG makes your computer slower.
