Too good to be true?

Ok, when I first saw this I thought it was a VERY GOOD deal:

Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3 GHz / 1333 MHz

For just around 800 dollars. What you guys think? Now, I know for sure that the motherboard is a little boped up, a good friend of mine told me that.

But for just 800 dollars, I think it's good. I'm not gonna touch it, it's compiled and created as you can see with tower and all that basic stuff. Alone the graphics card should cose me just around.... what? 3-400 dollars? It's a whole new graphic card.

I need some help here :) ... Too good to be true?

Seems like a good teal to me, not like a once in a life time deal though.

There is this psu 750w Energon EPS-750 120mm.... theres nothing else... i dunno if i need things like floppy, tower cooling, cpu cooler, silent kit, vga cooler...

PC's that come prebuilt have everything you need usually.

-You won't need a floppy more than likely.
-Intel chips come with a heatsink/fan when you buy them. They are generally good for regular use. Should you plan on overclocking, you would want to get a better after market heatsink/fan.
-The GPU has the heatsink/fan built in as well. Unless you are overclocking, this should be fine.

The only thing you may need/want to do is add in more case fans. I have no idea what case this is so cannot give any insight into the air flow and such.

Forget a silent kit or anything like that. Not really a point unless you wanna go crazy and overclock and get a watercooled system. hehe

Change the case to a Antec P180 or 182. This case has noise dampering built in and such so that even with several fans in it, it doesn't sound like a harrier jet.

The motherboard should be changed if you change the case prolly... I don't have the time to look at the ones they have listed though. sorry.

The problem that you will run into is that once you start replacing parts of the system, you will end up with a much higher cost. This is because prebuilt systems usually put in the cheapest motherboard and the most pathetic cheap ass case on the market.

All in alll.. unless you buy that system as is... I'd just build one at your local PC store, or newegg the pieces and put em together yourself.

Do I really have to spend somewhere near 200 dollars on a tower? I mean what are we looking for? Is it design or space? :S I dont get it

I have a crappy small HP tower already... If i was to build my own i would still spend a lot of money on a tower... i dunno :S

You don't technically need a better case I suppose. I mean, those little flimsy cases will work.

The reason I suggest getting a better quality case is that it will last for years. I have been using the same case for about 6 years now, through many upgrades.

Better cases are made out of better materials and overall just a better product.

For instance... that case that was originally on there is probably made out of a thin as hell aluminum. If you use fans to cool the pc, then that thin aluminum will block very little of the sound and you will end up with a loud pc. Many times, those cheap cases don't have a good air flow to them (holes in the sides and shit disrupting the flow) so cooling can be an issue. The size can also cause a heating/cooling issue as well. A small case will heat up much faster than a larger case, and when combining that with the poor air flow, your PC will run hotter than it should.

I recommended that Antec case (or one of similar quality) because of the noise dampening, separate power supply chamber, etc. It is also sturdy and well built, plus looks very sleek.

So all in all, it would be well worth it to me to invest in a nice case. I know it will be able to hold whatever I want to put in it, cool it effectively, and last me for years. So if you take a $150 case over 6 years.... thats only $25 bux a year. I'm willing to pay that.

Yeah I guess you are right. It's just the case that the price is what I have... just about 800-900 dollars. So I can only afford one of the bader ones than the one you mentioned. But still better than the standard.

I got another question: Would you recommend me buying a quad intel 2.4 or 3.0 dual core for playing AoC on max? If I buy the one with intel quad 2.4 then I won't get 9800 gf but only 9600... the price is the same... what do you think?

I just found out that the motherboard is plain crap. I'm probably going for an Asus one. Might get a better tower. Just dunno which has both cooling and isn't too loud.
