Wouldn't 1 payment games be better?

The companies dont realize that they would make way more money by going b2p with expansions. P2P steers so many people away from the game, its not even funny. Same with cash shop. Thats why in Flyff, people buy cash shop stuff to sell it in the game. If WoW was B2P, the population would be way higher. They count inactive accounts as people who are playing the game. Thats why it says "over 4 million players world wide!". From what I hear, theres like 1000 people on each of the 100 servers that is actually active. B2P would be like 3000 people on each server. F2P would be like 5000 on each server.

Actually, F2P games count dead accounts. Blizzard only counts accounts that still receive money; whether you actually play or just pay isn't particulary important for them.

If I want to pay for a MMORPG I'll pay for World of Warcraft, Age of Conan or Warhammer Online. :)

When they make it b2p, after maybe 2 year they won't have any income but they are forced to keep up the servers. Noone will do that (except maybe GW, but its instanced and they made 100 expansions to cover the expenses).

No I don't......hell I wish more games were p2p. There is also a difference in the way the servers are run from a b2p game and p2p game, which is why they can afford doing it that way. Notice how every b2p game is heavily instanced, or is ran on one of the player's connections.

Guildwars is the only good b2p game I can come up with right now, and as you can see, it's a great success. Alot of peoples are online and its a fun game, but its dying I think. However, 2 years ago I had alot of fun with this game. All the addons killed it because its expansive to buy them (It has 2/3 addons)

I payed for a MMO That was WORTH the money once, I actually stopped playing that game and i was a better person altogether. It was a very important part of my life and i dont regret anything(other than the fact that they changed the game and forced me to quit)

i dont think anyone should pay for a WoW, cause it doesn't teach you anything, only that griding is tedious, that Gurlocks are Abused and that raid battles are serious...what fun is that?

what about being able to be apart of a huge community, a guild that works together in many different ways, coordinating attacks and such. How about being a merchant that if you stop selling your goods for a while the economy will be all messed up? how about being that? What about levels? what if there was none? that you didn't actually have any clue if your opponent is any better or any worse than you... and also that if he is BETTER, at what PVP, that it actually required skill! there's so much more potential to MMO's that isn't utilized, and i think that its thouse things you should pay for.... you cant any more and soon all that i talk about will be free.

Edit: anyways BTP is fun but i really just dont got the feel for it, GW was alright it was the game i played immediately after signing off for the last time on SWG, i played for a week, got to level 20 stopped playing and it's collecting dust. I didnt like it enough to buy any more expansions.

P2P games are not always good, but always have enough money to make everybody think its good, thus they are brainwashed into playing it, and if they have a slight imagination get addicted to it because it takes there mind off of there boreing tedious every day life, and then puts them into a WORLD OF ... boreing tedious fighting and killing.


But i guess now that SWG is going to be a legal Sever for Pre-Cu, i guess that would be considered BTP, cause you do have to buy the client :P

I totally agree with Negrac. If the game is completely worth it, than I am willing to pay. I myself, am also a former Star Wars Galaxies player. It was the only game I ever played that was truely worth the money. Hell, if they didnt ruin the game, I'd still be paying. I'd just like to say SCREW YOU SOE, and R.I.P. SWG.

But back on subject, B2P is a good concept, but it doesnt provide the companies with all the cash they need to keep the game up to par with the rest. Hence, they release Expansion after expansion to make up the lost money.

So all in all, P2P will keep the game up and running far longer than most B2P games.

P2P have more matured people. B2P is where there will be half/half age group.

I prefer p2p if playing MMORPG.

But if you're playing MMOFPS or MMOFPS, then P2P don't make sense don't mention about game card because it's totally imbalance.

Hellgate: London is B2P, with optional subscription. That hasn't been going to well for them, either.

Meh... this is the problem of MMO's. In mmos you need to keep those sweet expensive servers flowing and obviously a b2p method doesn't really make it atractive to the companies. Honestly , i actually think that the current best method of gamind for the companies is actually some nice fps's hosted obviously by the users. Like .. when you buy TF2 or CS or whatever ... the companie gets that full money , and "all that money is profit" since they don't need that kind of expensives.

The deal is really, games like diablo 2 and Guild wars were designed from THE GROUND UP to be played B2p. They each use a different forms of running thier servers like battlenet. Arena net for guild wars is set very much the same way.

B2p, cannot be done with most other mmos because of the way their were made. Guild wars and diablo 2 use several chanels to divide up the players online and reduce latency. For example you'll see up to 20 different channels in the pvp room alone, Most holding up to a hundred. World of Warcraft on the other hand just use mass servers that will hold hundreds or thousands of players at once which can be much more expensive.

They should offer their F2P server for free so B2P is for single then like runescape for multi.

Why don't they just double the price of the games to like 100$. I'd rather pay that then pay 15$ a month.

Sorry, my space bar was broken so i used a on screen keyboard and they suck i type so slow using them. What i was trying to say is you should be able to buy the game if you wanted single player (+multiplayer client on a disc) but if you only wanted multiplayer then you should be allowed to download the client for free + unlimted time as a F2P member but you can start paying at any time to get all the bonus features < I think they should do this as its gonna die.

Buddy I beg to differ quite a bit, I'm not even going to point out how horribly wrong that is. There is Guild Wars and 3 expansions, you pay $50.00 for GW and $50.00 for the expansions that's a total of $200.00. I don't understand what you're even trying to point out, if Guild Wars had the standard rate as WoW of $15.00 a month to play it would've cost $570.00 total to keep your subscription from the beginning of it's launch 'til now. How is P2P cheaper? I could understand if it was $5.00 but we're not talking about Runescape here...

I think you just got really mixed up, Guild Wars is different from say WoW as GW is B2P then F2P, WoW is known as P2P. You got to keep up with the terminology bro. ;)

If a company has to keep updating the game and offer you an active, high-quality server, it would be tough to make the game 1-payment. :-/

Not to sound like someone who has been playing GW for ages. But when I played the servers were very unstabile. Constant lag... And don't you question my internet for it!

lol, i know my terminology i was saying that IF GW was P2P you would pay the same amount that you would now. Its only deceiving you into thinking your saving money.

Best for me would be p2p without chinese farmers selling gold ^^
