But yea, the main thing with Linux is, you NEED to read the instruction manual, and the instruction manual is not a four page pamphlet that you get with your HP computer that says "Plug this here, push here to turn on". It's a real manual.
You don't need to read all to get started, but you should read the basics first(it's not huge, but larger than most manuals), and then keep it around for when you need it.
So, first research and understand Linux. If after that, you want to still install Linux on your PS3, you're ready.
