I remember listening to a tribe called quest now lol
Oh, and Fort Minor's good too. Another rapper who's songs aren't all about hoes, bitches, money, drugs, and violence.
btw, The Cool Kids ftw? lulz.
I don't really care how much everyone hates it,but some of the mainstream stuff is good too.Every rapper has that mainstream single you know, like look at Busta Rhymes 1st single off his new album. That shit is ridiculous, but the second single with Linkin Park and Mike Shinoda is awesome,The song is called we made it.
A. I only liked eminem at all to a certain point. Because he actually has meaning.
B. most POPULAR rap artists sing about doing hos and getting money and how they were poor and got shot up.
The only true rap song, all you haters best be stepping.
I LOVE YOU MARKY MARK!
im not sure why its so popular
its probably because its marketed to your generation.
i personally can't stand rap/hip hop or dance music and im more into punk/soft rock
**** mainstream rap
listen to sum underground stuff
Check out: Atmosphere, Eyedea & Ablilities, Immortal Technique, Jedi Mind Tricks
old school rap is nice also
why is rap so popular? because people like it.
lol this thread is ridiculous. Ok lemme clear things up for everyone mainstream = rappers like 50 cents, kanye west, lupe fiasco, and ...i have to say it but flo rida :( oh so disapointing. The reason rap gets bad names from the haters, is because of rappers like 50 cent with g-unit and shit and flo rida (club rap music). Its because they make songs with no meaning just about dancing hoes bitchs money respect. lmao which some of u already no and its so funny. An actual good mainstream rapper is lupe fiasco, hes a lyrical genious, the lines he throws together have meaning and he knows what hes talking about. If haters actualy listen to real rap, like Jada, Styles.P, B.I.G., Ghostface Killah(the whole Wu-Tang Clan aswell), Jae Hood, Posta Boy, (all of D-BLOCK) for a matter of fact. I can go on for days listing rappers that are actually meaningful and rap about things that theyve been through so its real. Before you judge it u gotta know it.
Six, immortal technique is pretty sick eh :P at least we have a few of us that no what were talkin about, u ever heard of Nem-i-sis , hes from my town hes pretty good.
Is it even possible to put Lupe and bad in the same sentence? What about Kanye?I don't know about Kanye but Lupe is ill with his go go gadget flow.He was on point with The cool,**** the superstar joint go listen to the rest of the album.
I'm sorry but you guys expect these rappers to just rap just to be rapping.Reality check,it doesn't work like that. They got bills to pay just like everyone else. What happens when an underground rapper goes mainstream? Then you're hatin' on him for sellin' out to "the man" as people still call it.
norrin, first i new of lupefiasco prolly when u new of him so u cant direct that to everyone there. and as for when undergrounders that do go mainstream they either make a stupid ****in song were they only start to care about the beat and base of the song, or they'll keep up theyre same ways like lupe fiasco did and become a rich "good" rapper.
lupe -

How is that "genious".
THIS is genious:
"Built from blind faith
Passed down from self-induced fantasy
Turn a page to justify
Conjuring power - It opens wide
On your seventh day
Is that how it's done?
Twisting your eyes to perceive
All that you want"
E-cookie to who guesses.
and this:
"They dedicate their lives
To RUNING all of his
He tries to please THEM all
This bitter man he is
Throughout his life the same
He's battled constantly
This fight he cannot win
A tired man they see no longer cares
The old man then prepares
To die regretfully
That old man here is me"
