Reasons you probly have not dated anyone yet probly are along the fallowing:
you have personal issues you havent dealt with, resulting in you not being very sociable or, are just to shy to go and try your luck.
If its one of those two, i dont recomend going clubbing seriously.
Easyest way for you to meet someone would be to take part in social activitys related to things you enjoy. Could be music, you could go to shows and meet people who like the same things at you. That's just an example, but eh, it can be anything, hell even anime, go cosplay at anime north or other events of the likes lol.
And about the depressive and cutting thing,

In order to find friends you must be one.....
there are a lot of people I see today that are very shy...usually I tease them a little to try to bring them out of it especially when I was in college....
you need to go out with some friends together and go to a bar or some place where people can hang out and have fun.....
your not going to get a relationship overnight it will take time....but just go out there and be yourself don't try to make a fake personality, but do keep a positive attitude.....

Hm..Never dated a girl but i have messed around with a few. Personally all i could suggest to you is to hang out with your friends more or make new ones. Must of the girls i talked to or messed around with my friends encourage / force and i am happy they did.
