proof humans evolved from a common ancestor of apes

well not undeniable proof with fossils but with are own genome.....and this is coming from Francis Collins, head of the Human Genome Project, a Roman Catholic and author of "The Language of God"

About this, Evolution is a FACT. not a theory. so he worded his argument wrong, he meant to say that if it didn't work the Theory of Evolution was wrong. but Evolution occurs and anyone can say it doesnt, but it does, and its a FACT. How that happens we don't know tho.

I wouldn't exactly call this proof since that couldn't exactly be proved either, you guys can degrade yourselves and say that you guys evolved from apes, I don't really care. Sounds like human beings were probably just an accident in this case due to 2 chromosomes fusing. Before people used to ask how to apes lose 2 chromosomes and become something advanced as us, now they're saying that 2 chromosomes had to had fused, OK! And the fact we've lived here so long yet we haven't seen one ape evolve to a human makes me believe in this less and less.

aside from this great evidence we have thousands of other pieces of evidence and so called missing links found too.....

If we evolved from apes, why are we the only ones with our kind of mental capacity? I mean apes have been around as long as other mamals, why haven't they evolved too? Just seem like too much of a fluke that the apes got the lucky shot.

I'll put it simple. At the start, we were all alike but there was a group of apes that ate more and was tougher. That group of apes survived long enough to breed,and so forth-Natural Selection. This group of apes tuned it's skills and they started walking on two legs, this was THE most important thing to happen since we now had the control of thumbs for our tasks and we didn't need the hands to walk. Well i think that most people don't benefit from knowing these things. Explain to me how does this affect a farmer harvesting his crops to make a living? or the homeless people? Does it improve their life quality? I don't think so, so it's ok to research this stuff but whether they prove anything or not, there are other things to pay more attention.

Adaptation and Evolution is the same thing!!!
It's the same proccess, and it's the same out-come.
Adaptation is specifically evolution under a short piriod of time. Because it's a short piriod of time you will never see major changes.

But, Macro evolution (ie: "long term" evolution) HAS been closely studied and documented happening so far atleast four times.

The ONLY thing we don't really understand about evolution is how the proccess works.
It is a 100% fact that evolution happens. We can go from point A to point B. We simply don't completely understand how we get from point A to point B, and that is where it becomes a Theory.
And because of that one little missing piece of info, evolution is a theory. Thats how science works.

Science and religion are two very different things, you don't understand the bible if you think it's a history book with records of past events. See all the pages in the bible were told like a story, religion as told in the bible is more of a guide to better live your life. You can see why it'd be offensive for someone to convince others to denounce their religion because science proves that Jesus (or whatever deity you worship) did not exist.

As a final statement on this subject I will say that no matter if you believe in God or not because of whatever or whomever says, it's how you live your life. :3 Can't we all just forget that silly nonsense now and talk about something fun?

As to getting angry at Fabians post, I was upset because he basically told me, and the rest of the Christian church, who all believe without seeing (blind faith), that we were going to be the downfall of mankind, and we were of lesser intelligence because we believe in a God we can't physically see. It can and will happen, if your objective and look at the other sides views before judging them. Now most of you will look at a Christians view, and throw it off as stupid because you can't see God. I understand that. For some people, believing in the unknown is hard and they don't want to do it. For those people, I pray for you.
