Atlantica Online, end of the CB and why I liked it.
Alright, I guess this is my opinion, and/or review... see it however you want too.
Anyhow, Atlantica Online... what can I say.
First of all, it was probably the best F2P game I've ever played, personally. This was also only a CB. The English Translation was done almost flawlessly for quests and NPCs alike, same with items, etc. I don't think I saw more then 5 spelling errors out of the 75+ NPC dialogues I read.
The story is great, and unlike many F2P MMO's this game actually ties in too it's story. I was skeptical at first, because it wasn't evident right off the bat. Then you come to realize that it's only due to the fact that Atlantis disappeared long ago.
*Spoilers for the storyline/plot of the game.*
Your main character is an Atlantean... well, they are a descendent of Atlantis. You end up going through the training part of the game (which alone uncovers alot) and then wake up from this "dreamworld". Now you are in the realworld, and yes... it's -our- world, with a complete map and everything. You can move across Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, etc.
Anyhow, creatures and people at certian parts of the world are going mad/mutating. No one knows why, but it's from this evil energy that affects them. Later you discover that the energy is from a device, and for some reason it does not affect you like everyone else. It turns out the device is from Atlantis, left over from a war long ago before the nation disappeared.
I'm guessing you aren't affected because you are a descendant of Atlantis, and it is revealed that the energy actually was healthy and had healing properties for the Atlanteans.
*End of Spoilers.*
Now, for the PvP. I LOVE the PvP in this game. Almost every day they would hold a Tournament where you could join for a chance to win a great sum of money and very useful items for your mercenaries. (Explained later.)
The tournaments would be set up like this: Level 19 and lower, level 29 and lower, level 39 and lower, etc... all the way up to a "Limitless" Tournament where anyone could join, and had the greatest prize in value.
When you would defeat someone in the Tournament you gain Fame points, that allow you to have Titles, from Soldier all the way up to General depending on the amount of points.
Along with the Tournament event (Which would take place twice every day I forgot to say) the Arena event would appear. This event would appear three times every day, and it consisted of a Tournament between NPC teams that you could bet on in various ways. If the NPC you betted on wins, you get the allotted Dividends for that NPC. (Which is based on how many people betted on that NPC. The fewer bets on one NPC would give it a higher dividend.)
Aside from these two things they have the fairly often seen request battle. It worked out well so far, and you wouldn't lose anything in PvP as far as I could tell, only gain things.
Now for the Mercenaries. This is probably my favourite concept of the game. You hire mercs to help your main character through the game, and there are various types. There are class D and C mercs we know about, and the rumored B and A mercs.
All mercs level with your main character, and you control them just like you would your main up to 9 total (including yourself.)
When they reach a certian level, you can use items to upgrade your mercenary, giving them a different look and more power. Although this does not change their class such as a Class D merc.
Alright... I forgot to mention Guilds. When you join a Guild, your Guild gains levels too. It earns experience as members do, and eventually you can take control of a town. When you own a town, you can create buildings for it, make it look different, raise it's health and security, and commerce, etc. There are travelling NPCs around that can move to your town to increase it's population, or you can aggressively increase your population by persuading NPCs to move there.
Whenever your towns population increases, all members of the Guild GAIN exp. from 500-2k dpending on the amount of people that moved there.
Eventually when your guild reaches level 30, and has 5 mill gold in funds, you can create your own Nation. This will allow you to have more control voer the region, it's people, other Guilds, and give you items and Mercs that aren't available to anyone else.
There are still many functions of the game I could explain, but it would take a looooong time. The graphics are beautiful, and the music is so-so, I really didn't mind it.
Anyhow, I will give the link for those who don't know about this game. There's some confusion on the Forums at the moment, because people are unsure if there is gonig to be another CB or OB which starts up again in August.
This is one game that I will seriously be heading back too, and if you have any questions that I could perhaps answer, then please ask. If you would also like to share your Atlantica experience here, please do so too! :)
i tried it...im not gonna say it sucked or anything,it looked great and seemed to be fun and charming.actually i agree its one of the best f2p games available
but oh god, in my personal opinion mmo + turn based just dont mix, even tho they make this game great, i rather play a generic hack and slash where i feel a fast pace on my battles
guess i got sick of turn based rpgs in my snes and playstation back in the day

I'd say it's turn based... but kinda not turn based.
Although you take turns in battle, you can have all of your men swarm one enemy at the exact same time, then your turn is up, and it's the enemies turn. That's what I liked.
You don't need to wait for one of your guys to attack, then for him to run back, just to send another to run out and attack, you can attack with all of them at once. XD
If you dont mind turn based combat this game is amazing. It looks damn good for a f2p, and I liked everything about it. Best f2p out there , I cant wait for CB2 or OB whichever they choose to start :D

In my opinion, this game truly is a gem of a f2p game.
I love the combat..but then again I've always been a turn-based game lover. :)
This is definitely a game I'm going back to come OB. :D

Every hero class can learn a special skill that their mercenary counterpart can't.

Brazil.
The top card in here costs 1.2k bucks.
We get paid high, but everything that are considered "not nescessary" is expensive.
A car that you can buy in USA for 15k, costs like 40k dollars in here.

whats the 300 dollar card? most expensive here is about 500. a huge difference from 40. more than the 300 is from 1200.

Wow, that right there sounds like one bug out of it. You don't even lose anything from NPCs when you get beaten aside from some gold and a miniscule amount of Exp.

Wat? LOL
Now, where did you get that info rofl.
Edit: Besides, someone quoted an interview in which they clearly stated that all the items available for cash shop users would be available to players that didn't use cash shop, equally.

Source for that please? Since the cash-shop has not been introduced yet, how can you know that?

A game with Mercenaries. They need to make profit. Its obvious that cash shop will have exclusive mercenaries.
Just like sotnw has rNPCs. I said the same thing when the game was beggining, everyone laughed at me. Now cash shop has exclusive rNPCs.
Maybe there will be something to make mercenaries young again, without dying. On cash shop
And, I have my own sources.

Your source is your own assumption of what a company could do with this type of game and a cash shop system.
Yet, they already made a statement about it and you have none to back up yours, so please at least wait and see before raising any dust with foreseeing assumptions.

You can get cards with shader 2.0 cheap, just check out these links:
Sorry, but Wally World does not know how to sort their crap out. Video cards start at mid page.
Hope this helps you out.
OT: I find this game refreshing. Even though its turn based, its done so well. I will be playing it in the future.

Did you even play the game yourself? Sorry, but I don't trust "your own sources"
There are tons, and tons of things they can and probably will add to the cash shop to make an income. Costumes, capes (as there's a cape slot, and necklace slot but I havent found any capes or necklaces in game yet)
Also lots of licenses, maybe items to boost crafting experience or workload gained while crafting.

SOURCES!!!! I have sources that tell me this will be ... F2P, OMFG!!! I wont tell you where I heard it from.
Lol. You have issues admiting you lost huh? That wasnt my source about the cash shop items. That was me proving that THERE WILL BE an aging system on the game. Wich you said that "I made an asusmption that there will be an aging system."
My source told me there will be a item to reset your mercenaries age.
And if youre busy taking care of your children and dont wanna read it will quote for you:
Oh, and the mercenaries can also have children. And before you say "But you said they would die" and add more of your bullcrap, they will die when you discard them, because theyre really old and cant help you anymore on battles.
In wich ass is my foot now?
