jk! I'm not mean like that. I don't know. Maybe you didn't rest long enough? maybe you need to re-train yourself?
It's cause of being inactive. You went from running, to a week without running, then back to running.
Your body was used to you running, then you stopped, so it adapted to that, and now you're trying to force yourself to run again. Just take it slow, and you'll eventually get your stamina back.
You will "lose your fitness" a bit...but it shouldn't be that bad...but maybe. Maybe Hay Fever or something? Could be asthma. If it keeps up and you're worried about it, go see about getting a PFT test done.

Like Jakuza said, maybe you need to take it slow instead of running like a full mile after almost an entire week of minimal-to-no exercising.
Well I have taken alot of fitness classes and training, I don't know if this applies for running. Actually taking a break helps the body. Muscle confusion? Like Jakuza said, your body was used to running, until you took that break. Letting your muscles/body rest is a good thing. It gives it time to rebuild all those little particles. You didn't lose any fitness at all, but rather you are confusing your muscles, which in the long run should help your leg muscles and cardio. But I learned about this while working out at gyms and training camp, what I said applies for working out and such, so I'm gonna assume it can apply for running too.

It could be asthma.
I've had asthma all my life, but it started to dissipate after a few years and now it's virtually gone, but when I exercise it comes back.
It turns out I got rid of my all-around asthma, but got exercise-induced asthma. It could just be a starting case of that.
Also, can you describe it in more detail? Because then I could tell you if it's asthma or not.

The body quickly adjusts to your current actions. So even if its only a week you stopped running, your body will most likely adapt. Don't worry, just keep it up like what you are doing before and you'll be in your perfect form again

Anyways besides me being disgusted by the childish behavior in this thread if the problem persists or becomes worse then don't hesitate to consult your physician. Those symptoms could be signs proceeding a multitude of illnesses and health problems that could either be very unfortunate or just insignificant.

That happens to me too, I had to push my bike up stairs today(don't ask) and by the end of it I was gasping and felt weezy. I'm not really sure what could've caused it. Maybe a lack of sleep?

Yeah...I'd have to agree with everyone else. I'd say give it a little bit before you start to worry about it.
If you usually run...lets say, 3 times a week, your body is confused now. Once or twice should cure the problem.
(thats the case with me and cycling anyway. By the end of the summer, I'm pretty sure I could do a 50 mile loop - with breaks obviously - but after the winter, I'm only good for like 10 miles. you just have to get back into your routine :))
There are websites dedicated to exercising? Well if that's not an oxy-moron...
Also, try doing sprints-like 100m. That way you can get your lungs pumping while giving them a break to catch up after walking back to the beginning of the 100m. Also, it'll probably clean you out if you give it your all.
yea it helps,its kinda like self motivation couse if you feal like your being a ***** about it youll try harder to not be one.
as for starting slow, you get the best results when you work hard.theres other stamina training that you could did during the week that had nothing to do with your ankle.
maybe if your arms arent trained much, but no all stamina helps and the more you push your self drains your stamina quik so its much better then nothing.im not saying just go back and forth on the monkey bars. there plenty of trainings besides that you can do on them anything upperbody.
I think you basically use every major muscle in swimming. Push ups is just chest and triceps. If your planning on working out for swimming, you better just swim lol. If you can't get access to a pool often you'll prob need a decent workout. My tip would be to focus on different muscle groups each day; Also doing chest and legs twice a week.
