Its worth to buy, the game itself is pretty good. About the community is true but you can always couple up with some of onrpg. If my dad was paying i prob bought ffxi or aoc. But he doesn't <.<
Anyways try ahead ^^ its really fun
It's kind of the same, but something else entirely at the same time. The music and little typical FFish things like storytelling, moogles, chocobos etc. etc. do make it feel like any other Final Fantasy you'd play. But seeing how much bigger the world is compared to any FF out there and the fact you're a normal person in this world instead of a god wielding an oversized sword, it does tend to be completely different as well.
its just a suggestion but maybe you should wait
for warhammer online and see if you like it more
Well, you can expect the landscapes. This has to be the first MMO where I sometimes paused a few seconds to admire the scenery. The game's mostly medieval from what I've seen, with some steampunkish stuff added to it as well.
Story's said to be the most epic one seen in an FF game yet, but the storytelling does tend to be slow seeing, well, it IS an MMORPG.
And you can pay an additional fee of about 1 dollar a month (I think) for the signature cardgame we've all come to enjoy in Final Fantasy.
Cap is 75
but all jobs can get 75
I'm only 26, i play 1 and 2/3 month now, i'm only 26.
Its grindy, but a super mega extreme awsome grind
Hard to describe,
the combat is fun,
i got 30spells and 3 weapon skills and 1 2hr abbilitie.
The gameplay in party's is fun, its killing stuff, but its not easy, some mobs kill the entire pt,
Ex. I'm in the jungle, when i party there, we all need to watch out for goblins, some can murder us, goblins are aggressive mobs, they detect you by smell, sound, or by see-ing you
I can run pass them with
Invisable, sneak and deodorize lol.
Also there is lots to do, i'm raising a baby chocobo
so it's like DOMO and the only thing that stays forever is the race and appearance, which you chose at the very beginning?
Oh and about the graphic:
I've searched for some screens now and what I really didn't like at all were bad textures of the landscape. But then again, every game looks uglier on a screen than it actually is. I know that the game is old and all but is the graphics at least bearable?
Official screens get scrinked by the program, look mine up here
www.xfire.com/profile/hyaru
Tell me what you think?
Ow a bit like domo, but soooooooooo mutch better...
It's not like DOMO, DOMO is like it. =P
Anyway, I don't mind the graphics so much.

Floor textures are a bit ugly, but, other than that I quite like them.

There are a couple of guides which take you through how to improve the graphics via registry edits, the effects are shown in my screenshots.
And in mine, but you gotta view the full image, not the shrinked
there is a button for it
Hmm, i don't find the ground ugly at all..
Ow, note its from 2001
http://screenshot.xfire.com/screensh...603de27df1.png
That's pretty ugly. :3
But, meh, I don't suppose you'll be looking at the floor that much. I don't mind it so much and I'm normally pretty strict about graphics.
Sure, it's not the best there will ever be, but, I like them.
And realy ingame, it looks alot nicer, often it amazes you.
Newer areas, from expensions look better too.
Trust me, its looks great
I didn't like FFXI at all but there's a lot of people who do so you shouldn't have problems finding people to play with I guess. I regret buying it and if i had to recomend a P2P game it would be PSU. I enjoyed playing that a lot more but that's just me.
Cingal, thats the ToaU map right, the ugliest map ingame right? (Textures)
Ow, Psu was ok, but not wort to pay for online imo.
ZOMGWTFBBQFFS. Never heard of this project, lol.
It looks like win. Does anyone have any further infos about it?
That is known as Codename: Rapture.
It's SE's next mmorpg apparently. Supposed to be using the Crystal tools.
And, yes, that it is Hyaru.
I played PSU up until about level 50 with two of my friends over Xbox live. It was fun for a bit, but, at the time it was very short on content that to the extent of doing the same two missions continually for hours on end.
ohh...is there already a site up or a source of informations about it?
and btw, does someone have a buddy-key code for ffxi?I'd like to try the trial first, before I actually buy it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapture_(video_game)
There's a wikipedia entry about it, but, that's all I know.
I don't have one, sorry.
FFXI is awful. It's an awful grind first of all, it takes forever to reach level 75 (endgame). Secondly it can take forever to find a party to level with, although they did make soloing more viable, it's still much more efficient in a group. Endgame people want certain combinations of jobs, if you picked what is considered a bad job, you're not going to get many invites to endgame content. Speaking of that, the game has been out like 5 years, and the balance of some classes is awful, and it never gets fixed. Also camping bosses is alot of fun, you stand in one spot for a few hours waiting for a spawn, and when it does spawn, you're fighting with other people to claim it before they do.
Also whoever said PvP was good has apparently never played a pvp game. FFXI's pvp was just thrown in there to make people happy and it's awful.
Not to say it's a completely bad game, it can be fun, but you pretty much need to have no life to be good in this game. I think I quit like 2 months after reaching level 75 because endgame was so bad and required so much time.
Yes, rapture must be cool :D
Oh, Mofo, the pvp is good, but not like gw
the classes have been balanced alot!
Party's are not hard to find.
(i asked my ls)
the grind, well, u should be fine if you want fun, but if you are 24/7 well, its not a healthy game for you.
As for your job, well nowdays i haven't heard of a bad job dragoon is liked now (i heard it wasnt first)
But meh, endgame is huge, but the game is impossible to beat (content, is waaaay to mutch to do)
If your like me,
Take your time and enjoy.
job combo's are important tho, for yourself and others
Problem with 'taking the time and enjoying' is that end of this year/next year will be like THE mmorpg boom, here in europe and america. And I really doubt that I'd prefer this game over an other great one. I'd have played it probably till the end, if it was possible to reach the cap, in a relative short time.
Ah, i think i will, since Ffxi is adding new stuff too..
"User created dungeons " seems great!
Once u hop into vana'diel, everything changes
well...I need a trial key. after that I can decide, whether or not it is worth the money.
Mofo, u seek a game to play for just a while, then FFXI isn't the one.
FFXI will keep you busy" if you like it" for years
Trail can be buyed, but u can't use the 2008 pack to upgrade trail
Using the things that have been posted in this thread and the various things I know about this game so far these complaints can all be fixed (the grind is supposed to be long but fun, you can change jobs, and hyarume already claimed they have balanced them)
Thanks for replying guys o.o woke up to 8 pages...I'm thinking I might just grab it because its 03 of august so the free 30 days will last a month and my dad doesn't mind paying per month so thats not a big deal.
Pretty much alll my questions were answered so I guess I'll be buying this :) my only question now is which server..since bahamut is fun and sylph has more people from onrpg I can't decide :/
and I'm personally looking for a long term game, warhammer online seems crappy imo and I haven't really seen any good MMO's that are expected to come out (even so I can just save up and buy them/p2p them as well so w.e) but if a warhammer 40k mmorpg comes out anytime soon I'll probably ditch this game ;) though that probably won't happen anytime soon..
I'm still going to play AO and I still love AO just I have this on and off thing where sometimes I play it a couple days straight sometimes I don't..and I just feel like playing something else but tabula rasa isn't cutting it for me lol theres not enough people that play anymore really.
For bahamut i could get you a world pass, a ls(guild chat community sorta), and i could help you ingame,
cmon buy! its sumerbreeze event till august 18 :D
