If anything, World of Warcraft is a "Warhammer" Clone. Not the otherway around. Vivendi (the company that owns Blizzard), had to fork out a large 7 figure sum of money to Mythic (makers of Warhammer) & GamesWorkshop because of copyright infringement. i.e, Warcraft characters look exactly the same as Warhammer.

Originally, GamesWorkshop was going to use Blizzard to front its "Warhammer" game, but GamesWorkshop did not like the route the Artistic team had taken on the game, with it's somewhat "overly cartoonish" look. so they pulled the plug on Warhammer online (this is where Vivendi steps in) and helped blizzard develop the game further under the new name. "Warcraft".

For the Records, Blizzard have been sued 2 times and lost both cases in regards to copyright infringement. Here are the cases they have lost.

World of Warcraft - Warhammer (copy right infringement).
Starcraft - Warhammer 40K (copy right infringement).

You're probably thinking (hold on, World of Warcraft and Starcraft was released first.) Correct, but the idea's developement and artistic impressions (down to the very look of characters) was created by Mythic & GamesWorkshop first.
