The viral site's editor was Tom Riddle? If anything, they're telling you who the actor is going to be, not the next villain. The Riddler's name was Edward, not Tom. Tom Riddle is the name of Lord Voldemort, meaning the next actor to be playing a villain in this series could be Ralph Fiennes, the man who played Voldemort.

The problem was that Batman Forever horribly portrayed the riddler. In that movie the riddler came off as a egotistical lunatic whose "riddles" were so simplistic that all they did was tell batman who the riddler was... WTF?!
The best portrayal of the riddler was that done in the animated series. The riddler is calm, logical, and very sadistic. His riddles are hard to figure out and are usually used to save a life or to get out of a dire situation.The riddler enjoys playing games with people, and peoples lives.
I would have faith in how Nolan would portray the riddler because he did the joker very well compared to the graphic novel, and to all the other live action batman shows/movies.
I do want to point out that I think Jim Carrey could act it out very well. He has shown us he is capable of actually acting in many different scenarios and pulling it off very well from Dumb and Dumber to The Truman Show. I think he could make a good comeback as the real riddler if only the character is done right from the writing/directing side. The only problem is that the stain from the previous movie will always follow him so if they do remake the riddler it will more than likely not be him.
