Best is if you can enrol into some marketing, business and advertissing programs also.

With graphic, animation, marketing, business and advertissing knowledge, it could get you ANYWHERE. With just 3d animation gets you nowhere. You don't have to go deep in marketing and business. You just need to know the basic and it'll help you a lot in designs and stuff.

If you're asking if this field can revolutionize the world the answer is no.

It can have various applications such as facial reconstruction, simulations, etc. There's a lot of things you can do with knowledge in that field. Creativity helps a lot too.

Modeling programs will make you major money. 3-d modeling can be used of the top of my head:
    1. Construction (model it before you build it)
    2. Medicine - modeling tumors and organs can help surgeries
    3. Meteorology - modeling storm systems etc

But most of it requires that you learn programming but being able to use those programs may also help. You can start by learning some autocad and stuff.

ah so if I am planning to help make the world a better place, then computer animation is not the career for me eh?

what if i really want to still pursue computer animation? i mean, i've known from the getgo that Engineering is the career that will revolutionize the world, thats something obvious....but can i use graphic animations to maybe save lives, heal sick people, makes people's lives comfortable, etc? i guess one way is to work collaboratively with others in making a learning/tutorial program that er..."teaches" potential students in their area of interest? I read an article where this medical group created an animated program that is pretty much a Surgery Simulation. This is one way to benefit the world in a good way besides entertainment...no?

Well...advertissing is fun. It teaches how to mess up people's mind...then if you learn Graphic Design on top of that...backedup with some philosophie knowledge...

There are limited uses for computer animation/3D modelling that would be able to cure anything other than boredom. But still, most of the design work on pretty much everything (from toys to furniture to mechanical details to buildings to spacecraft) is done in 3D. Reading someone's blueprints and making 3D stuff out of them...

What do you mean by "these?"
