Reputation: 31I think I'll try Warcraft 3. I saw the battle chest for like $30. It comes with a bunch of other stuff too.
Thanks guys!
Also, WerewolfX, I lol'd.
Rise of nations.
You gotta be a moron to not know how to play that one.
Reputation: 22imo if you're just learning how to play RTS games it doesnt matter which one you play as long as its a RTS
actually i dont think you need to learn how to play...in RTS your strategy varies according to the units and race you use, and thats different in every RTS game so you needa learn again when you switch anyway
Reputation: 16all the command and conquer games are mainly about massing and little micro at all. so you can play that, and once you are good enough... you can hang with the big boys on wc3 where you can practice micro'ing and macro'ing a bit more.
Warhammer 40.000 Dawn of War + 3 expansions. That's kickass RTS
age of empires 2 age of kings = best game ever.. i started age of empires 2 first day it came out and i still have it on my desktop to play.. to bad ppl online almost never play anymore.. only the dumb custom scenario maps like castle blood..
yea its easy if you play against computers, play against people and you will get assraped by veterans who have been playing since it came out
I suggest warcraft 3 ft due to the matchmaker thing(tries to put you up against someone with the same skill level) When I first started I think I was 4-0 before taking a loss.
krazykow thats totally bullshit what you are saying
you will never win in starcraft:broodwar massing 1 unit
exept you play this noob possible maps... but thats not the normal starcraft
Ummm, no. first tier units are useful throughout the game. Zergling and Zealots are a must in any mass army. Medic and Marines are first tier units too and they are a must against any zerg player
But generally Starcraft is a fairly simple RTS game but it is also fast paced. Warcraft 3 is slower than Starcraft and require a lot more microing (controlling units in battle) cause every unit counts in a battle. Of the blizzard rts games, i would go starcraft as a better rts games for new players.
Yes, i actually do liek that matchmaker system but it isnt always 100% fair especially when playing above a 2v2. In Starcraft, at least you can check your opponent's records before starting the game so you know how good is he. That also leads to another problem with players kicking people higher than a 1:1 w:l ratio just so they can win.
Reputation: 151Company of Heroes is AWESOME as a first RTS.
