Crackly sound after reformat

So some of you might have seen my other thread on blue screening, now, my cousin gave me old comp and i just transfered my ram and a geforce fx 5500 since the radeon 9600 was broken. Now with my new mother board and new processor, everything is fine so far, but the sound is odd, when i play games, or watch vids, the sound is really crackly just out of right headphone, and i've tried a different headset to and its the same thing, could anybody help me? maybe its sound drivers or something? I'm not really sure.

Does it still occur when you use speakers?

You sure your earphones/headset's plugged in properly?
If yes, try reinstalling your sound card driver.
