A woman wanted in the bizarrely complicated attempted kidnapping of her former virtual boyfriend has been apprehended after a multi-state search, reported by CBS last weekend.
It is said that the 33-year-old Kimberly Jernigan who came from North Carolina met 52-year-old man who was from Claymont in the online game "Second life" and formed a virtual relationship until the victim ended the relationship unilaterally after they met in reality for several months.
Jernigan who couldn't accept the reality attempted to kidnap victim, but fortunately the victim has escaped from her kidnapping for twice. Police arrested Jernigan according to the information from victim an hour after the incident. Jernigan is currently facing charges of attempted kidnapping, burglary and aggravated menacing.
Second Life is a 3D virtual world created by its Residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by millions of Residents from around the globe.
The victim's character in game was said to be a Lion, and Jernigan was a virtual woman. It's a fanny association that reminds me Beauty and the Beast! But the ending in the real world can never be such happy as the fairy tale. Virtual world couldn't replace the reality - at least at the moment.
