FFXI Questions.

Hey everyone. I know there has been a couple FFxi threads lately. But I recently decided to finally purchase ffxi. But I just have some questions before I start subscribing and such.

1. Can I use a ps3 controller?
2. Whats the most populated server
3. Anyone wanna play with me?
4. Any website with lots of info for starters?
5. Is there already a onrpg guild for ffxi?

I played the game a looooong time ago and didnt really like it much. I was confused greatly. And got annoyed running around the town for 3 hours trying to figure out stuff soons I bought the 3 dollar trial with no manual. What is there to really do? I just went out and started to kill stuff till level 7 then quit. I was to lost but I want to try again.

rangnarok is pretty populated. (or seren, slyph)

you need to play it past level 15 to get a feel of the party grind... if you join a link shell (guild) early on you will find it easier.

Pretty much from 1-10 go out and grind, and try to do your Town quests for items that help ALOT (Exp rings). What REALLY helped find my way my first time playing (Like 2 years ago) was those strategy guides you can find in book stores, very detailed quest info and all that.

Hi.

1. Err, well, I used to play FFXI on my PS3 (with the PS3) controller...
2. All of the servers seem to be about the same. However, "Odin" actually had an issue with overpopulation not long ago... so, probably Odin.
3. I can play with you, but I'm on the "Pandemonium" server. White Mage 68 currently.
4. As someone else mentioned, the best site for information on the game is FFXIclopedia. http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org
Another decent database can be found at http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/.
You might want to check out the Allakhazam forums, too.
Reading up on techniques and guides in the job-specific forums could really help you to become a more efficient player and party member.
5. At this time, the OnRPG members seem to be spread out across FFXI servers. Server transfers cost $25.00 USD if I'm not mistaken, so it would be difficult for everyone to play together at this point.
However, there's two or three people on both the Sylph and Bahamut servers.
I used to be on Caitsith along with an OnRPG user cnamed "Arath", but now I've moved to Pandemonium.

Partying with other players begins at level 9 or 10 in Valkurm Dunes.
It's a shame that many players, like you, give up before that point.
There's a lot to do in Final Fantasy XI. Try looking at the websites that have been posted.

You'd be best off waiting until about the 3rd of September anyway.

The month trial they give you only lasts until the end of the month, which is about a day...
