Have you ever written any music?

I don't make my own songs often. There's one that I'm tweaking a little on my piano. I will post it later when I ever feel like it's good enough. I mostly do covers of songs, I just finished 99 red balloons on the piano.

EDIT: I listened to your "The beast before the sea" and I am very impressed. If you were in a band and I heard that guitar (with singing that wouldn't want me to shoot myself) I'd download it in a heartbeat.

I was in a band in early '07, played a few shows in Columbus, Cleveland and Dayton Ohio. It was quite fun! Road trips were a blast usually, and the feeling of being on stage was a 100% euphoria.

Metal is totally my thing

I wrote that song earlier this year, but the style of music I write now is deeper and more intense. I use harmonies alot now, along with heavy breakdowns and add various instruments into metal now (i.e. Pianos, organs, synthesizers) I once made a metal version of Rihanna's Unfaithful. It actually turned out better than I thought it would.

I Killed The Prom Queen, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, In Flames, Sky Eats Airplane, Job For A Cowboy, The Devil Wears Prada, Chiodos and Dance Gavin Dance are some of my favorite bands

I'm more of a ***** metal person.

I like my vocals clean, so that usually involves speed metal, say Sonata Arctica, Stratovarius, Altaria, Helloween and such.

But damn, of all those bands you mentioned, only one you mentioned that I knew was In Flames, and that's only cause of TLM

I'd say All That Remains and Job For A Cowboy are pretty metal. From a normal person's point of view anyways.

There's no rhythm to metal? Metal has to have some of the most complicated rhythms, timing and beats I know of. Tool has some insane rhythms.

Timing in 5/8, 3/4, 8/10, 7/11.

Other ones you mention that I like are Iron Maiden, Iced Earth, 3 Inches Of Blood, Judas Priest and Kamelot.

I haven't really heard of any of the other ones =/

I'm sorry to have flown off the handle like that, but someone I know recently opened my eyes to how n00b people can be about music, and really, no offense but you got the genre listings off of MySpace. I could make a black metal band, label it "Pop Rock/Alternative" but it wouldn't make me put me in the same bucket as, say, The Higher.

Also, about that guy who was trolling, it's not as though I've never talked shit about any other genre before, but I try not to go out of my way just for a few laughs.
Typically I like to stay away from that stuff, and if I must have some input, I will try not to be a dick about it and say something that could have gone without saying.
