Default Why some people don't like politics?

This is in no way a Political thread, just the topic is politics.
I have a large amount of friends who dislike politics, don't like talking, or thinking about them or don't even like them in general. I can clearly understand why people hate talking about politics because it is a personal choice. But to not even like politics in general to me just sounds horrible, it has done so much for us and we should all understand it. I mean let's think about it, with out democracy the modern world would not exist (created by the Romans). As well the pilgrims would not have decided to declare independence from England thus making the United States of America. As well politics everything from the cost of food to how we are viewed around the world. It is something that goes so deep into who we are that should not everyone take a look at it and try and understand it a bit?
I would like to hear peoples opinions, views (person) and anyone else you may know.

EDITED: I have noticed 2 things I should have pointed out or said while making this. We are discussing the idea of Politics not Politicians. Second I am thinking some people do not like politics that is wrong and I have noted it, people don't like discussing politics. But I do quote often hear that people just aren't interested in politics. As well what do you think some people don't like talking about it for, simply because they don't like to argue a point of view?

I myself do not dislike politics.

However, a lot of my friends say they dislike it, primarily because it's just so confusing.

Everyone wants to live their simple and already somewhat routine lives. And I know almost everyone can admit to that. But according to my friends, when something as complex and complicated as politics is added into the equation, then life can complex and they say just can't handle it, so they choose to just ignore it while they can, and deal with it when they are at least old enough to vote (which most of them still are).

It can be complex and progressive, immense amount of researching work has to be done to keep up to date with current affairs. To be able to engage in discussions of politics, contextual knowledge is needed to keep things going. It's also a skill that has to be adopted since young. However for many, it seems a little late to make a change, though it's never too late to start right now.

Since I'm really a negative guy I really enjoy talking about politics,
I always talk with the same guy at work about politics/news/religions mythology etc.
Also we hear and watch alot of news because of the radio and television.

Still I like a serious conversation.

Kentaro I think you misunderstand the question. You answered why you don't like Politicians not Politics. I understand a lot of people hate politicians not the politics.

Politics, just like psycology, requires both time and patience to not instantly get infuriated by the system and then feel useless for not being able to do anything about some matters.

When most people decline to discussing politics, it's because they know that you have an opinion and that you're most likely to shove it down their throat if they listen to it. Thus they humbly decline, instead of telling your opinion is wrong but they can't pinpoint why.

My mother acts the same way. If I discuss the way she raises her kids, she just turns a blind eye for any kind of aspects that can be changed in her life and just accept that they're just some sort of common law in her life.

I think its because most people can't be bothered to spend the time to read up background information then carefully analyze the current situation to obtain a personal opinion.

That just sums me up on some issues that I don't really care about.

EDIT: Summed up in one word: Indifference

So I want to ask you this Raiyne, how can people be indifferent about such an important thing? But it is true a lot probably are, I want to ask a question that I think might be a bit one sided but I don't want to get into a political debate. It would appear to me that more blue collar workers would be indifferent then white collar workers but that is probably because of how blue collar workers have been portrayed for a long period of time on TV and in Movies.

Well I hate the politics because of the politicians, it's all about lies you never know what's true.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_trauma

All self-defense and people trying to cope with being ridiculous, when unable to change.
They still have political opinions, they simply try to avoid coming in touch of the topic, because of the stress associated with it.

There are several behavioral responses common towards stressors including the proactive, reactive, and passive responses. Proactive responses include attempts to address and correct a stressor before it has a noticeable effect on lifestyle. Reactive responses occur after the stress and possible trauma has occurred, and are aimed more at correcting or minimizing the damage of a stressful event. A passive response is often characterized by an emotional numbness or ignorance of a stressor. Those who are able to be proactive can often overcome stressors and are more likely to be able to cope well with unexpected situations.

You don't have to be educated, to talk about politics, if you can deal with it... (Politics is just talking about live and what you see yourself, not about statistics and numbers, those are just substitutes to illustrate and by work; If the obvious, general purpose is lost there is as good as nothing left to any agenda. About Names and persons: In a conversation, 2 people bringing the same facts and stories with them won't be productive anyways and it's often good enough to listen first to make clear what the issue and the punchline, or lead is.)
I also try to not see it as offensive, if people block it off, but as an inability of theirs, that requires others to be sensible.
If i don't feel like dealing with it, I don't have to anyway, but I won't walk around it in circles for years; I am a kind of a demanding conversationalist in any case...

I'm going to say its because people don't naturally like to be ruled. Its our first instinct to reject something someone tells us, so I'm willing to bet that is why.

Politics is boring. Plain and simple.
And a lot of it is too convoluted and confusing for the common person really give enough of a **** to read into it and understand it fully.

    Or maybe it's just me.

Mostly, I think it's just getting fed up.

Even if you don't get confused out of your mind, you still have to deal time and time again seeing things you can't stand go down. Eventually, people just say "**** it."

Then there are those who just don't care -- or, better phrased, just can't be bothered to think about it. A lot of people are just lazy. They want everything to happen exactly as they think it should, but don't feel like standing up for it personally.

Personally, I think it is vastly irresponsible not to have at least a basic idea of politics. A lot of stuff is pointless to learn unless you are going to make a profit out of it, but politics effects everyone.

If you don't bother trying, then you have no excuse to ***** when things turn out differently than you'd like.

I can understand why people get sick of politics, at least American politics. I don't even live there, and I'm already fed up with hearing about all the ******ed bullshit that accompanies it. The whole process takes way too goddamn long.

Well it's just not very interesting. I'm not gonna say I wont vote and try and get involved when I can vote but I still wont like it.

I'm gonna miss voting in this election by like a month or two, not like it matters anyway cause I don't really see anything to like about any of the canditates, seems like it's just gonna be more of the same.

Anarchy counts as a system of government when you look at it loosely.

It's there, but you can't see it.
