RPG's are dictated almost soley by time, however FPS's have the other variable of skill, which varies.
You can get skilled if you play an FPS long enough. Though I'm hopelessly bad at them. Some Mmorpgs (very few) take actual skill to play, the same twitch movements that are required in FPS's are also required in those kinds of games. Mabinogi for instance.
