Default Obama will not raise taxes.

Or take away your 2nd Amendment rights. (so he claims)

But he surely has no problem letting the U.N. do it.

    This is his bill.

    Sounds pretty awesome.

Until you read the fine print.

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill...bill=s110-2433

    http://obama.senate.gov/press/071211-obama_hagel_can/

Arguably no greater problem faces the world than global poverty. Nearly 2.7 billion people live on less than $2 a day and close to a billion people live on less than $1 a day. We have a moral obligation to craft an overall U.S. strategy to decrease global poverty and eliminate extreme global poverty. After introducing this measure in the House for the past several years, I was pleased to see it pass this year with overwhelming bipartisan support. This bill’s Senate introduction is a significant step toward it becoming law,” Representative Adam Smith said.
    The Global Poverty Act:

    * Declares it official U.S. policy to promote the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of cutting extreme global poverty in half by 2015.

    * Requires the President to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to carry out that policy.

    * Includes guidelines for what the strategy should include - from aid, trade, and debt relief, to working with the international community, businesses and NGOs, to ensuring environmental sustainability.

    * Requires that the President’s strategy include specific and measurable goals, efforts to be undertaken, benchmarks, and timetables.

    * Requires the President to report back to Congress on progress made in the implementation of the global poverty strategy.

If this goes through Americans will pay taxes to the U.N. (A percentage of our GDP, roughly a 13-year total of $845,000,000,000.00.....keep in mind that taxpayers already hand out around $300 billion a year in foreign aid). Yes, a global tax.

This will also commit America to adhering to the Millenium Development Goals.
    • To take concerted action to end illicit traffic in small arms and light weapons, especially by making arms transfers more transparent and supporting regional disarmament measures...
Among “eradication of poverty” by the “redistribution of wealth and land”, this commits nations to banning “small arms and light weapons”. This could even lead to U.N. "peacekeepers" doing house to house checks for illegal weapons.

Note: I'm still researching this to see what's what, but so far I don't like what I'm hearing. So either take it for what it is, or do your own research also.

If it helps the world's condition, then it's alright by me.

If not, **** it. All the candidates suck this year, anyway.

    Where are you, Gore? ;-;

A flying, solar-powered car with Nitro really seems appealing at this point (pfft). D:<

So let me cut this down. You would rather be able to have a gun in your house than help poverty around the world?

Even if they do try to get rid of small arms, just like drugs and many other illegal things they will still exist.

Sounds like a very small raw cut down form of communism, hah I can even see it now.

The UN will take away small and light weapons and then move onto bigger things, striping different countries away from any kind of defense and then bam. UN strikes in a massive world war and then most places who are treatied with the UN will be defenseless, so I would rather things stay the same.

He said in a conference not so long ago, that there was a rumor going around saying he was going to remove arms from Americans. But he clearly said he was not going to, he was just going to tight'n the security and checks on how people 'legitly' get guns.(Stopping people with a history of mental issues from getting guns[VA Tech Incident], Stop people with a bad history from getting guns)He is going to attempt to bar code weapons to trace the source of the weapon to find out where the weapons were sold to shut them down.

Presidents lied before but we have to trust someone. And I trust Obama's word more the McCain.

I'm all for helping those less fortunate. I love doing volunteer work, some friends and I help Toys for Tots along charity drives every year, I've participated in the Helping Hands program that local churches provide, I've fed the homeless with a mission group in New Orleans, among other things. I love helping, it feels awesomely good to help others. It's a feeling that's hard to describe. Hell, I am even going to join the Peace Corp after my stint in the Army (would do it before, but it would interfere with some security clearances).

Helping is one thing...this is going a bit to far.

We can still help the world without submitting to a global tax and the demands of the U.N.. Forcing people to give others money is wrong, it's a step in a direction to a bad place.

But, the courts have ruled before that when a treaty conflicts with the Constitution, the Constitution wins.

This is what doesn't add up with Obama. He wants to cut taxes across the board...yet he is going to give us global health care, hand out money for college tuition, put hundreds of billions of dollars into research for alternative energy, "infrastructure" rebuilds that will cost hundreds of billions more, and a host of other things as well. He can cut all of the "wasteful spending" he wants (only tens of billions of dollars as he claims), but the money still has to come from somewhere and the government doesn't earn its own money.

    Think of the long-term, man.

McCain is 72...72 years old! He may not even survive his first term, and if that happens, it's President Palin. All things considered, that is surely something you do not want. A religious nut with inexperience that makes Bush look like Stephen Fry.

I too disagree with her stance on this

The Iraq war is God's will.

Came off more as she hoped the nation was doing what was right. As in, not going against God's will. But still, hoping that a war would be "God's will" in the first place is weird I agree.
Obama has is own weird religious ties.

He is apart of the corrupt Chicago political machine. He is friends with known slumlord and criminal Tony Rezko (Rezko has been tried for money laundering, fraud, aiding bribery and attempted extortion) who has given a large sum of kickbacks and political contributions to Obama. They even bought houses next to eachother, together. Tony Rezko is also good pals with Nadhmi Auchi (an Iraqi-born billionaire living in London, who brokered weapons deals with Italian and French companies selling arms to Iraq, and is believed to have been one of Saddam Hussein's principal financial intermediaries in the West. Auchi is the largest single stakeholder in BNP Paribas, the sole bank managing the U.N.'s oil-for-food programs in Iraq). Obama, having met him, attended a dinner in Auchi's honor at Rezko's. According to one guest, Obama raised his glass in a toast to the Iraqi billionaire.

    The list goes on.

As far as any of these candidates go, I can't get everything I want but I can try to get less of what I don't want.

I expect Biden to do well in the debates also.

If he doesn't put his foot in his mouth.

We can help save the lives of the poor without submitting to the U.N. (which we already do).
I highly doubt that a global tax is enough to put one of the most wealthy countries down the drain.

I said further. It definitely isn't going to help us at this moment.

If you are concerned that much though give me your bank account or credit card information and I'll be sure to make considerable donations to third world charities in your name. I don't think you would want to be forced to help. Especially when you have your own bills (semi-figuratively speaking) to pay first.

Saying that it's a possibility is a bit different from gearing up for war.

I never said that I was a supporter of Palin.

Obama is just another typical politician, they all are.

Shouldn't it refrain from being a battle of Palin vs. Obama rather than McCain vs. Obama?

Figure in the fact that citizens privately give money and aid without coercion from the government. Then the amount becomes quite a bit more than 20 something million dollars.

    For 2005

I may be off, but it's pretty close.

Just think, if anything happens to McCain, Palin will have the nuclear codes.

If anything happens to Obama, Biden gets them.

And it sounds to me like you're giving McCain/Palin your electoral support. Even if you don't like them and personally consider them simply the lesser of two evils, you are still supporting them to a degree.

Palin is the VP. She is part of the picture as much as McCain is.
Agreed. My vote is a defensive one also, not much else.

That's what I'm getting at. We don't need to submit to U.N. taxes and obligations in order to better the lives of others. Especially when the taxpayers' money can be better spent stateside.

You make someone help, then it's no longer helping. You're just sacrificing the comfort of one person for another. I love volunteer work, but I don't force family and friends to help.
