First of all let me start off saying that if someone calls me internet white knight again, I shove my foot so far up their ass their internal organs will squeezing out of their throat.

If you were disappointed by Maxis's release Spore, than it's most likely your own fault. Was Spore the best game ever made? No. Was Spore the worst game ever made? No. Was it over hyped? Yes. The point is the fact when you put sooooo much hype upon a game, it's almost impossible for it to live up to the standards it's given. Very few games are able to that and most of them are sequels, and ONLY IF their prequels have a large enough fan base. For example, COD4 was a great game. It could have been destroyed if it was over hyped. But, no hype was there. However once the game was released it was greatly successful because people expected less and got more. While with Spore it was quite the opposite. People expected more and got less. Because everyone was expecting so much, it was hard to enjoy many of the things that the game had to offer, because we wanted more.

My point is that Spore is a great game, that can kill days on end of your time, with it's many easter eggs and features. But, it can only do that if you let go of all your damn expectations and just play the game. My way of keeping the hype of me, is playing current release games and not wasting time waiting for new ones to come out.

I hope this will help you enjoy spore even atleast a tiny bit more.

I think the only game that actually IS living up to its hype, people do tend to over hype and that does ruin a game, that why people said Armored Core 4 sucked, but the game was awesome, and spore. Same thing, people wanted all this crap, but the game is amazing even without it, it changes the game style from a third person ff style combat, to RTS and then you can even build/destroy planets!
I give spore a 10/10

mhmm 9 hour's to beat all of the mode's beside's easy with all the stage's it was way to easy i even got all the part's which made it suck so i agree they really did somthing wrong should of made it last longer.

Space age takes MANY days to beat. I've logged probably 15 hours into space age alone and I'm no where NEAR the middle of the galaxy. If you tell me you beat space age and all the other ages in one day then you're obviously lying.

-How people who hyped too much think : Heyyy I tought we could customise more in tribal stage and that the space stage would be more like a sandbox but you actually have to unlock stuff ... blah blah blah tons of complaining

-People who didn't hype : Hey nice, those stages are finely designed, it's rare for me to see a game with so much customisation, even the building and vehicles can be customised in the civilisation stage and the space stage is amazing, you can do lot of stuff like terraforming !


Also, man stop saying the game is short, creating a nice creature or building could easily take 2 hours and the space stage is f****** long, especially if you take some of your time to trade for fun and to terraform for a while...

Also you can do the game at hard with 3 different kind of species...

Of course if you rush trough Mass Effect's main story you can beat it in like 10 hours. If thats what your going to do with spore than no wander your gonna beat it quickly. Repeat with me: Spore = Sandbox. Now you do it... lol, j/k but I hope you get the point.

Half-life 2 at least has a good storyline. Rather then skipping 99.99% of the story like Spore did. Also, I never aid it made it a failure, don't put words into my mouth. I said they did something wrong. Who's going to disagree that longer = better when it comes to an already great game?

Yes, it's a sandbox game. Sweet. That's the only thing it has going for it, the hordes of penis monsters running around in-game that make you chuckle while you're temporarily distracted from the below-average graphics, terrible gameplay, shitty camera, and ******ed repetitive missions that a four-year old would say are shit.

Run around. Find nest. Click on attack or befriend. Spam buttons 1/2/3/4/5. Repeat.


The first stage was actually fun because you did shit that was repetitive, but the mechanics were better. You didn't just spam 1, you had to adventure around staying alive, like those classic arcade games. The rest was just an amazing customizable environment with shitty gameplay. It doesn't matter what type of game you're making, if the gameplay sucks, then who cares?


Look at Garry's Mod. It's only fun because the gameplay is good. Instead of spamming one you can build slingshots to shoot explosives at your enemies.

You're getting a little defensive, aren't you? You said a game that can be beaten in under a day has done something wrong (Doing something wrong usually means FAILURE) and needs to go back to development, yet there are plenty of short but sweet games that can be beaten in under a day. Look at most FPS/Fighting games.

Me and a few friends have beaten it plenty of times in co-op in waaaayyyyy under a day.

You don't have to hype it yourself, the entire internet already did it for you. If you browse the internet for anything related to games at all you've probably come across something to do with spore being the next amazing thing considering it's been hyped for 3 years.
