Is WAR worth the buy?

I'm interested in it, i've read some reviews and it seems to knock away every other mmo on the grind aspect. I hate grind badly, so bad that I never EVER got to the end game content of a MMORPG due to grind (Which is a shame really, i'll never be able to enjoy FFXI).

One thing i'm concerned is the combat apparently is boring and slow but I also heard it works great once you join full scale PvP. It also has two really interesting features- That award tracker thing (Something Knowledge or Wisdom or whatever) and Public Quests but i've heard the community is really, really bad and everyone hardly talks and some convenient Public Quests are abandoned.

So far, it promises to be a good game with Grind greatly devalorized but even if you want to grind you can go and grind with other people in a public quest. To top it all off the Witch Hunter looks so god damned sexy.

Dude come on its been answered but i guess this may suit your own question.

Firstly the grind - Remember grind is not how long it takes to level its if it is reptitive. I recently looked at my characters play time on the tome of knowledge book thing and it said 15 hours and i am currently rank 14 renown rank 12. The thing is though although that may seem kind of long you really dont notice it. Especially the scenarios that pop up regularly on a high pop server. Its a really nice change from questing and PQs are great too. Remember the great thing is all of these things allow you to get great gear for your level if you spend time on them especially the PQ rewards and renown gear.

Combat - I have played a white lion and a Bright wizard my WL is rank 14 and my BW is rank 16 the only time i noticed slow combat was on my brightwizard for the first few levels. Fireballs cast time is 3s so although its a nice damage nuke you cant move when using it and it can be kinda annoying having to watch the long bar go down each use. once you get better DoTs its fine though. And for my WL i have never once experienced this "slow combat" I have like 4 spammable skills 1 DoT and some big damage long cooldown skills. Trust me the people who said the game has slow combat are just weird.

Community - I dunno i randomly joined an RvR group yesterday to take some battle objectives and a keep and there was plenty of talking going on. It was near the release that hardly anyone was talking. PQ wise ive never been in one that got cancled, we failed one (lol yeah we didnt know what to do) but never quit because of the party everyone just likes to stay till the end since the roll is completely random.

The Witch Hunter - Yeah this is all on random comments i have read. The class is great but squishy which has annoyed alot of the users but dont worry i bet next patch they will toughen it up. I see lots of WHs in my scenarios destroying treehuggers (healers,RDPS) and even killing tanks etc and the whole cloak thing is awesome too. Although dont fall into the trap of thinking your RDPS cause you have a gun. Most of the time people are using the gun for Snare lol since the sword dps is much better. You may have heard people saying that WH fail in Open RvR cause of the squishyness but your not a front line DPS your supposed to cloak and kill the treehuggers etc and destroy the enemies from the back line which is hilarious since all Destruction rely on is their tanks their bank line is hilarious most of the time and easy to target.

All in all WAR is a great game and remember this is only the release product there is alot more to come. Im personally happy i preordered and will be playing for a while

Darc WAR is worth buying if you can handle it on max details, my current comp. can't, so im not even think of touching this game

SO I have to say its not worth it, If you love WoW and AV and spend all your time there playing 24/7, by all means Buy WAR.

yeah, 1 MOB of 30 people vs 1 MOB of 30 people back and forth, all WAR is is just copy of AV but on bigger scale.

Which mob of people has the most people will win the game.

Like ally vs Horde on WoW in AV, who ever has most people and can outlast the back and forth killing and captureing wins, hell some games take over 6+ hours being stuck in AV, same will happen in WAR, because all it is is capture objectives, who ever has the most people will win, there's no strategy behind it, especially in open RvR, open world PvP...

Hmm well I am sure you have read the if you like rvr then play this if not don't. It's still true.

Let me try and help, the combat is in no way slow, I am not sure why people say this perhaps it's because they only get to level 15 and give up because the leveling process takes a lot longer at that point. Here is my best example, I am a warrior priest which is basically a healer first and damage second, medium level armor. I can kill a mob 2 - 3 levels above me in about 4 seconds flat because of the extra skills I get. At first combat is probably a bit slower but it gets much faster.
Community is not the greatest for two reasons, first people don't talk and second the economy isn't there. However the new feature of Open Parties makes getting into parties and then just talking to people in a group much easier. As well in scenarios we often have a conversation if we are doing really well or really bad.

Also a witch hunter is a amazing character once you get in the 20's. I have a good friend in the game who is now a 37 WH and my guild mate which is a 31WH (same level as me) they are masters of damage against anything as long as they have heals (me). While they can be difficult to play in the first two tiers they are amazing in the end.
As well what people said what the guy said is complete BS, while numbers do matter so does skill. We had a 2v1 (2 Order vs 1 Chaos) and we were attempting a keep take over, sadly we got our asses whooped because we where not organized like them.

Pick WAR and ignore all the wow fanboys in this thread. I was in WAR CB, it was great even though i lagged, i didnt care =D Good graphics, nice gameplay and awsome gear.

I was a long time WoW player, could also be called a "WoW fanboy" but this time i'm really stepping on the WAR side since all the WoW fanboys are really talking crap and saying shit over WAR without any good reason or proof.
Just please go back to WoW, stay there, be addicted further, we do not need you at WAR. And stop talking crap about WAR if you haven't tested atleast for a few weeks(reaching end levels).

Yes, before TBC, it was. It was played in the way that was actually intended, instead of the 10 minute honor grind it is now.

I would say deffinately buy it. I have played WOW for around 2 years and still love the game, but War has much more to offer and the pvp,rvr, is so much better then most games I've played. Plus the scenarios and party quest are very fun. Plus there shouldn't be any grind if you try and fill your Tome. I'm lv 18 and haven't had to grind even once=).

I thought about it, but I don't really know. I've tried Marauder, White Lion, Bright Wizard, Chosen, Witch Hunter, and Witch Elf. I didn't really like any; It's odd because I normally love melee classes.

wow was massive from the get go. and it never slowed down to date, and it still hasn't peaked. we will easily see 13m+gamers on it pretty soon. food for thought? war on the other hand sold 1.5m presales or something like that and has if that 500k subscribers? so obviously something went wrong their wotlk ce sold out in under 48 hours and it will shatter records when it comes out. yea don't listen to the wow fanbois listen to the a.d.d little kittys who hype every game that comes out every other week. i got money even before wotlk comes out 90% of you who are praising war so much, you war copys will already be collecting dust somewhere completely forgotten for the next POS grinder that comes from asia. gg

there are the same ammount of people who hate WAR for stupidly ******ed ideas and the same ammount of people who love WAR like it's the work of god, it's the same with every other freaking overhyped mmorpg, that includes FFXI and WoW as well
