Going out to Nick up in prison...

Man, I know this isn't my personal blog, but I have to vent somewhere to someone, and its easiest to do it to you guys, through a computer monitor.

The other day me and Tiffy (my girlfriend) were walking around some waterfalls, and what do you know, a kid I knew from high school was there too. We said "hey" and chatted about school. He knew I was friends with a certain kid, so he says:

"Hey man, did you hear about Nick and all of them?"

I said I hadn't, and he told me what had happened. Apparently him and two other kids were going to a big beat down (local stuff, wouldn't help if I explained) and brought a bat because they heard there would be guns. They cracked someones head open with the bat (in self defense, obviously)...and now the three of them are on their ways up to prison. 4 -5 years.

I'm not saying what he did was justified at all...and its very sad that I had to hear such bad news about a buddy of mine from someone I barely knew like that. Nick was always a good kid to hang around with, I can't imagine him hitting anyone...

So, there you have it...just wanna say good luck to Nick. And another one bites the dust.

But I assume it's a lot more complicated than that. Go into more detail about this local turf war, it's intrigued me.

Self-defense would have been not showing up. If he has some priors, and then intentionally shows up to take part in a fight while hitting someone with a baseball bat...they'll probably stick it to him.

well, in any case it's not self-defense no matter what they did with the bat. The fact that these people went to a place where they knew there was going to be a fight, and bringing with them something that classifies as a weapon, shows they were aware of the possibility of becomming involved, and even preparing for it. Not in any sensible court of law will that be accepted as self-defense.

Even were the bat made of DragonForce (hardest metal known the man [they're actually made of aluminum]), it wouldn't be hard enough to deflect a bullet. Bullet-proof glass doesn't deflect bullets! It just doesn't shatter.

In the extremely unlikely event that he managed to connect with the bullet, with an aluminum bat, and likely at such a close range, the bat would probably ricochet back in his face and knock him out really quick. If not, the bullet might probably even go through the bat.

A ball travels at 100mph, and professional baseball players have trouble hitting them; they're going to manage to connect with a bullet going 500+mph? Seriously?

Buy a lightsaber i tend to win most fights with it (unless they use guns our small fast bullets are a lot hardrer to deflect than slow moving lazers).

You cant premeditate self defense, he knew something would happen, so its not self defense because he knowingly knew he would get attacked.. self defense isnt something you plan.

sorry to hear, but sounds like his own fault from your story.

and I cant see any self defense in it anyway. You cant go, willingly, to a fight and claim self defense. If i was the prosecutor, i would rip these kids apart for this...

Actually, they were the reason for the big fight to begin with. Something about drugs and girls and money and turf. Surprise. More than likely, if they didn't show up, someone would have hunted them down.

I stopped hanging out with those kids way back in the day. I saw some shit go down, I did some shit I'm not proud of, and I got out before I got in too deep. Thats all I'm gonna say. Now I'm a peaceful pete, and couldn't smash a fly if I wanted to.

It's not that hard to crack a head with a bat.

Someone I know got into a gang fight and cracked someone's head with his bare hands... thank goodness he didn't have to do time. Almost got sent home to Thailand though.

Of course, he was a incredibly strong 19 year old Thai dude who teaches Muay Thai.
