    Default Some good news for Watchmen movie

    Some have lost hope in Hollywood in developing a short series comic book(graphic novel for those that want accuracy) story into something quality. I personally wait until I've seen the final product to pass final judgment.

    But there is some great news for the Watchmen.

    Hollywood tried to change it. Keyword there is tried, because the director fought them and won.

    Snyder shared with us a bombshell — Hollywood wanted to change the graphic novel's alternate 1985 to the George W. Bush era, and turn Watchmen into a movie about the War on Terror. After a quick viewing of a few clips Snyder shared even more "almost" moments where the studio wanted to meddle, easter eggs and what he couldn't live without. Details (and spoilers) ahead. Snyder said he had a meeting with the studio early on, where they shared their early "Hollywood" vision for the Watchmen movie. It would have been an updated George Bush-era film, where the Minutemen team had been hunting down terrorists. But Snyder's love for Nixon's Watchmen involvement brought him back to the table, asking Warner Brothers to trust him that 1985 is the right way to start the movie, and "maybe we should just leave it the way it is."
    I'm not really surprised that they wanted to change it. They've effected many of these class of comic book movies in this exact manner. But that in the end those changes didn't go through does put a bit more faith in that it will be more true to the original source.

    I would be pissed. Watchmen is one of my favorite comics, they can't change the formula.

    I'm going to be Rorschach for Halloween.

    Doesn't make any difference to me.

    All it will ever be, at most, is a great movie, if the novel is lucky. It's never going to be the adaptation that Watchmen deserves, which is to not be adapted.

    There's rumour going around that he has changed the ending from a Lovecraftian alien attack to something else.

    People keep ignoring that, he keeps swaying everyone with pretty visuals, but Watchmen wasn't about pretty visuals solely. This isn't 300. This is going to be a series of weirdly coloured scenes, sped up and slowed down. That's all this movie is going to be.

    Should have stayed as it was.

    People act like if the movie is great, it'll be worth it. To me, it's not. Watchmen deserves more then it will inevitably get, and that's the problem.

    He's showing everyone 30 minute previews, coincidentally of all the pretty scenes or the action scenes. These are people who probably haven't even read the novel. One person who DID see a preview said that Rorschach's jailbreak scene just looks like 300 in costume. Slow, fast, slow, fast. I never had anything against Snyder, but that last quote got me;

    "Maybe we should leave it the way it is.".

    Funny thing, actually, Zacky boy. Funny thing.
