-Rock Band 2 Soundtrack
That's what I'm listening to right now. I love all that music
BTW: These (minus rb2) are indie/rock/post hardcore bands. So yeah
I don't listen to those type of rock bands too much, but may I suggest trying the website Last.fm?
You type in a band name in the search engine and it finds similar artists. (among many other things)

John 5 - Excellent heavy metal instrumentals and some cool country shredding as well.
Jimi Hendrix - For obvious reasons.
The Black Mages - Heavy metal covers of final fantasy tunes, how cool (or nerdy) is that?
Sly & The Family Stone - Excellent funk music.
Nightwish - Heavy (symphonic) metal with female soprano vocals, except for the latest album where there was a change of the vocalist.
Dream Theater - Generally progressive metal with not so much of the metal, but technically superb shit.
Fates Warning - Progressive metal with a more heavier sound than Dream Theater. (They're older than Dream Theater)
Children of Bodom - Generally thrashy metal with... death metal vocals? I'm not sure. But they're instrumentals are pretty fast and hectic. Good pump up music.
Stratovarius - Power metal, epic sound, high pitched vocals etc
Sonata Arctica - Power metal, epic sound, high pitched vocals etc
Zz Top - Old School (Since 1969) American rock band. Cool dudes with beards and motorcycles.
Reputation: 13Try Listening to Rise Against they got some good stuff, i mean there 4 albums will appeal to everything you could want. siren Song of the counter culture is more pop'y, Revolutions per minute is about as hardcore as you get. Sufferer and the Witness is beautifully hardcore, the unraveling is allright a few good songs on it.
and Appeal to reason is differnt, way more poppy than it should be but "entertainment", and "savior" are preatty good.
Also go listen to Insergo i heard there where a cool band down in San Antonio. There recordings are rough, but over all they rock hard.
