It's a micro blogging site. You can only post 140 characters a message, so it's just a thought or a link. People follow you on Twitter, so when you say something, "tweet" all you're followers see it. I really like it because over the course of the day I find out what is going on in the real world and the gaming world. It comes to me via TwitterFox which is a browser addon. It was really funny. We were sitting in a sidewalk cafe and the fire alarm went off in the building. As every one came out they were snapping pictures of the rush and posting them on Twitter from their phones.
I dunno Twitter is something you have to try. I honestly didn't get it at first. Now I think it is going to be huge.

twitter isn't a "thing", it's a social networking site i believe.
