McCain Booed After Trying to Calm Crowd

LAKEVILLE, Minn. (Oct. 11) - The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama's character, he described the Democrat as a "decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States."
A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of "traitor," "terrorist," "treason," "liar," and even "off with his head" have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.

McCain changed his tone Friday when supporters at a town hall pressed him to be rougher on Obama. A voter said, "The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight." Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism. Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama.
"If you want a fight, we will fight," McCain said. "But we will be respectful. I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments." When people booed, he cut them off.
"I don't mean that has to reduce your ferocity," he said. "I just mean to say you have to be respectful."

I think McCain did the right thing.

I think so too. Says a lot about his supporters though.

    Sounds like a nice man.

They should have a power sharing deal. McCain and Obama, and maybe even Bush! Bet you lot didn't think of that!

I must admit I was going to make this topic. I was surprised and proud of McCain for doing this. Especially when one woman said "I am afraid of Obama, I read in the papers he was an Arab" this shows how ignorant some of his supporters are, and even more so what does being an Arab say about anyone? I was happy to hear when he just took the mike away from her and said, no ma'am Obama is a good family loving man or whatever he said.

America is the land of ignorance. Nothing about Lothia's post surprises me.

wtf... Even if this is a pluss in McCain's book for showing common sense and diplomacy, the people who responded like that need to gtfo.
Seriously, I don't care who you vote for if you're an uneducated tool who base your choice on ignorance.
They want a battle? I fail to see how hard the contestants fight eachother shows how well they'll lead a nation. If anything, I'd be more inclined to vote for a person who shows a bit of humility and intelligence than a person who just spends his/her time bashing all the opponents.

I know I'll get the nazi-stamp for saying this: But people like that shouldn't be allowed to vote in the first place.
You need a drivers lisence to drive a car, but you get to choose who gets to run a country despite being a complete dimwit...?

However I think both canidates need to show more respect, Obama has had a lack of it lately too probably because of McCain's side. And it has been said by many Republicans that support McCain that his campaign has been going to negative and lieing a bit to much (or extending the truth).
Hahaha, well, if it doesn't get anywhere with him, then I'm just throwing my viewpoint out there

Honestly, I really liked McCain before he announced his run for Presidency. He was a fairly moderate republican, and I liked that. But since he's been running, he's becoming farther and farther associated with right (as in conservative) side.

Anyways, I agree that it's the right thing for McCain to do, to show respect towards his opponent. However, I also agree that the supporters at these rallies are possibly a little too "Anti-Obama".
That, my friend, is where the FairTax comes in. You are not taxed on your income, but rather on your spending, as it would replace all federal income taxes with a universal sales tax. Read up on it a bit.

I never said Republicans are perfect either.

And for the record, I've stated my reasons for having this quote in my signature before. I see no reason to bring it up again.

I just looked it up on Wikipedia.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's essentially basing how much you're taxed on the amount you spend (On anything? Does this include houses and other large purchases? Or just little things such as food?), and basing it less on income.

While I think that it is a fairly good idea, what if a rich person just decided to seclude themselves, and spend a minimal amount of money? I don't think it's quite fair if these people get taxed just as much as a family living in poverty, whom are struggling to pay for basic needs.

Maybe there's something I'm missing to the concept, so correct me if I'm wrong

Those are usually all true things that Republicans just can't handle.

Sarah Palin happens to be a genuine idiot.

Not really, Obama isn't an idiot.

John McCain, as much as I dislike him, isn't an actual idiot. Palin and Bush are idiots, they're stupid people.

    Meh, I may.

But for some reason, I think that if they were to kill the president, then bush would've been gone some 4+ years ago.
