Reputation: 125Oh noticed your in Ottawa too.
Im first year Ottawa U, hope to see sometime.
Its only cause US elections are more focused on placing campaigns that bash the other.
US commercials are hilarious cause its always like,
"Vote for me because my opponent spent only 100 billion on Iraq whereas I will only spend 80 billion on Iraq."
EDIT: Shouldn't you be in school right now?
No, my high school is from 8am-2:20pm :P
Awesome by the way, what are you studying? My sister is a 4th year there and I'm going to campus friday when you all have a day off to check the school out lmao.

its funny because right im writing a politics paper about voting today.
Yeah, I'm going to vote NDP.
Reputation: 218I was going to vote Harper but the son of a ***** pulled $45 Mill from Federal Arts programs, saying 'ordinary Canadians' don't care about it.
Let me tell you something: I'm an ordinary Canadian and I give a ****.
Now I'm going to go to college/uni and there's going to be no goddamn money in the programs I want to take. Amazing.
Instead I'm voting for the Communist Party of Canada.
If you're being serious, that's incredibly ignorant. Jerk.

IMO the current Prime Minister (Stephen Harper) seems pretty damn shady. I mean lets start off with the fact that he made the election sooner because he thought a Democratic US president would effect the chances of the government turning more liberal. Not to mention that he pulled Canada out of the Kyoto Protocol. Plus he put more military missions into Afghanistan (Not against that) but that makes him seem just as conservative as ours. (Someone had once said here that the conservative Canadains are like liberals over here which really doesn't seem to be the case.)
Can anyone explain to me the two parties
Bloc Quebecois
NDP
And what they stands for really.
Bloc Quebecois (if they were in the US) would be hanged for high treason. These are the same guys who tried to seperate Quebec from the rest of Canada (They'd ditch the debt too, but still use our currency). Pretty much the asshats amongst asshats in Canada.
NDP (New Democratic Party) is our socialist party. We've had to (unfortunately) bear with their asshat antics in my province for quite a while (Before we finally kicked them out). I don't know how they'd be at a federal stage, but at provincal level I'll hate them forever and never will vote for them.
There was also the Green party running (The candidate here garnered 10% of the votes, not really bad considering the conservative incubent has been in for 16 years or so?). They are mainly environmentalists (It'd hurt to have them in power, fiscally), but have a platform that is uber post-secondary schooling friendly.
A minority government means that if the other parties don't support the bills there can be a vote of non-confidence (Lame government can't pass bills = useless) which results in another election.
As for Stephen Harper, he is a dick.
The NDP invented national health care.
Also, Stephen Harper broke his own parliamentary law in calling this election.
edit: the NDP premier of Ontario was, of course, Bob Rae, now a prominent Liberal candidate. imo you can't call the economic problems during his time completely his fault by any stretch of the imagination. The recession would have happened with or without him.
