There any way to change a password on a log in screen, or something?
tl;dr, I need to get a cd to boot up without logging into windows, and f8 doesn't work.
I got a new computer, just got a ****ing keyboard for it after waiting 3 weeks, and I can't get on cuz the old owner forgot to tell me the pw. All i really need to do is reformat, but the cd drive doesn't load during bootup...
In the configuration screen when you turn on the computer, at the top or bottom it should say press Fx to go to the config screen, or something like that. It's F1 for me. Anyways, over there, you can find the startup sequence, just make the CD load before the Hard drive. Sorry, I'm not very good at explaining.
wait, is it the windows log-in screen that you are having trouble with, or is it on the BIOS boot?
If it's on the BIOS boot, you need to clear the CMOS, which is different for each system. YOu need to look that up and find out how.
If it's on windows, there are password cracking utilities out there. Some may require a little bit of linux usage though.
