    Default Free2pay or Pay2play?

    Hey, just a question.

I just quit playing WoW. I was just sick of the "rat race" grind. WoW has destroyed everything I came to love about mmo's. The exploration, the comradery, and the adventure and turned it into a commercialized epeen contest.

I downloaded a bunch of f2p mmo's, to see if I could get that old style spark back.

So far I have Rohan, DOMO, Shaiya, Cabal, and about to download RO valkyrie, and I also have atlantica. The games look fun, and don't cost anything..

But, whats the biggest difference in the freebies vs. the big dogs? I could play these free mmo's or jump over to a paid mmo like EQ or EQ2. Would the free mmo's provide the same fun and excitement or am I forced to pay to get what I am looking for?

Free MMO's, generally, are more time-wasters than serious games. Free MMO's have less production value and don't have as much time and effort put into them. P2P MMO's generally have more time and effort and are for more serious gamers, compared to casual.

There are some very good F2P MMO's though, DOMO and RO (because it used to be P2P) being some of them. However, you usually have better luck finding a P2P MMO that you can stick with than a F2P MMO you can stick with.

I can't follow this, but once you realy like a f2p, you pay more than you do for a p2p.

P2p has better custumer support, mainly ingame support.

I don't get what type of game you are looking for tho

so in essence, you CAN spend more money on a free to play than you would on a pay to play game.

If I had the money for a pay to play game (I do), would it make sense to just play one of those and not waste my time on the freebies?

f2p games in the long run arent realy worth it... eventually they will put a broken item in the cash shop in desperation to make some quick $$$ thus unbalancing the whole game and causing people to quit. happened to me with rakion. they made the whole game easy mode for those who can shell out 500$ anytime they want. heard something similar happened to maplestory... im gonna check up on it to make sure tho.

these days, i find cash item for a whole costume set being too coslty for 30days. so honestly... i would say i would rather p2p instead these days. the only reason why i like f2p is due to costumes, but if the cost outweight the cost of the p2p monthly fee, there's no point.

I downloaded several.. and while they all had some unique feature that P2P games don't have.

all of them had some severe flaws that made them annoying.

Mainly the bots, and spammers.. and the fact that almost noone speaks fluent english.

Kinda hard to adventure with people you can't understand.

Yeah well that's a f2p game for you. In my opinion you'd probably want a p2p game if you don't mind the small monthly fee. They're more fair because people can't run around with shit bought from a cashshop and they're almost always better made and supported.

In reality a f2p costs you more then a p2p.

P2p is more fair because most p2p games are region based servers, customer service, updates frequently , anyone can get the game items and not have to pay other than the fee.

Uhh , try RO , you might find youself paying for it , P2P games gone F2P end up costing the same amount to be an active competitor compared to the monthy fee , however you can still compete without the bonuses.

They have some features that P2P don't even have. You'll find just as much enjoyment in F2P as in P2P.
Hmm what word can i use to describe you without getting a warning.......

Anyways ill make this simple and easy for ya. Compare the content of LOTRO/CoH,CoV/FFXI/Lineage2/WoW/WAR/DDO (just a few for ya)

    to.

    Atlantica/Flyff/Zu Online/Fiesta/Latale/Rohan/Last Chaos/Shaiya/Perfect world(another few)

Do you HONESTLY wanna tell me that the content can be compared.

That the Service in general not just Customer support can be compared.

That you can have as much fun in a typical grinder rather than a storyline based tatical game like LOTRO? or FFXI?

I loving how everyone is using Atlantica to defend f2p games the only thing this game brings to the table is turnbased fighting and o boy does it mess it up. Characters not being able to use many skills? Certain characters easily overpowering others? Typical go here kill XX amount of monsters come back reward? Everything but its turnbased system has been done.

If you seriously want to settle down with an mmorpg get a p2p game if u can afford it.

If you want a good/mediocre carefree game get an f2p game.

    My vote:

The difference between F2P and P2P is based soley upon what the company thinks they'll earn the most money from. I've seen F2P games that destroy P2P games. I've seen even more F2P games that are on par with P2P games. The way the company wants to gather money doesn't play that critical of a role in determining the actual quality of the game. My number one example would be Cabal. It's a brilliant, brilliant MMO that's completely free and, in my opinion, tops WoW and Aion (based on videos and screenshots).

It's possible to say that making a "bad" game P2P is stupid, but consider this. For a P2P game, every player that plays is required to pay. For an F2P game, not everyone in the game pays to play, nor do many of the players pay a fixed per-month standard of money towards cash shop. So even if you have only 50k people playing a P2P game for $15 a month, it's not that far off from a population of 100k people playing an F2P game and about 75% of the population pooling in about $10 a month for cash shop. All in all it usually balances out, but in my opinion, F2P is always the stronger option.

please hyaru...unless you played when it was p2p you would not know why it went f2p.

The servers were packed full when it was p2p and yes i played for 3-4 months when the EU version was p2p.

It was about the company wanting more money hence why they kept a premuim version of it around still. Alot of people are still annoyed it went f2p. Sure it brought more people and more servers are being used but the things we dreaded came faster than ever.

    bots
    spammers
    typical noobs.
