Internet speed problem...

Hey guys! Long time no see ^^

Anyways; I have a problem;


Normally (after my awesome computer died) I used to play on this computer:

2.1GHZ
512mb RAM
64mb videocard
Windows XP prof.

I used to download with 2mb/sec

And I also ruined this computer and got this one (didnt upgrade it yet):

2.5GHZ
2gb RAM
896MB videocard (ati radeon 2100 or something)
Windows vista

On this computer, my downloading goes very slow (at gamershell, it is only 100kb/sec)....

I did the speedtest and it says that my computer is fine:



My question is:
Why do I download so slow and how can I download faster?

with the vista one, is it a wireless connection?

Nope, and the weird thing is that I download with 800kb/sec from France (I live in north/mid Holland (the Netherlands)

In my experience you will rarely ever get your FULL download capacity.

When you run that test, you are running it with the server that is the closest to you...thats why it is such a big difference. The file you are trying to download is prolly physically further away than that server; so it naturally takes longer to get there.

On the other PC, did it download the SAME file faster?

Yes....

Btw; the server where the file is located at is like 10 miles nearer than the speedtest thing.

Btw; france is like 500 miles away and I get a higher dl speed if I download from there o_O

Woo, my computer works fine again ^^
I am currently downloading something with 1.61mb/sec so it is way better than it was before
