ok to settle this bs in the forum once and for all. DRAGON GEM IS NOT A COPY OF MAPLE STORY , infact , dragongem korean was made first before any version of ms was ever released , look into the games release dates im sick and tired of people thinking its a copy , if anything , maple story is a copy off of korean dragongem , with updated graphics and technically the same game engine

My grammar isn't perfect, but it's readable.

I can't be stuffed looking dragongem up, it would be in korean anyway. I don't speak korean. This guy seems to think it came out more than 5 or 6 years ago.

Dude, you just joined this month also, compared to some of the other people on this forum, you haven't even left a dent on their loyalties. And don't say you've lurked, because more than half of these members lurked at one time or another.

Anyway, it is possible that this game came out after Maple, highly possible. Because the main website at Zemiinc says nothing at all about an older release date for the game , and the english website doesn't help either. And based upon where you got that tid bit of information, it could just be a falsified date. But on a higher note, DG is definately not an MS clone. GamePlay mechanics are way different, so are the graphics and sound (imo, DG's gfx and sound are better than that of MS'), the grind is much lower, meaning you don't take 2-3 hours trying to move up a level, skills must be bought, etc, etc. And if I remember correctly, a clone is an exact copy. So if either of the two were made before the other, it's obvious that developers just expanded, and built upon the idea of the original. Not just copy it.

oh ya, I almost forgot, The game has a Copyright on it meaning if you copy it you will be fined or even go to jail. A better use of the word '' Copy '' " Wannbe " would be.

The grind feels worse than Maple somehow..You're just made to grind on different monsters each level (so you won't be doing 10 levels on the same monster like in maple (zombies))... and there's annoying delay and missing system going on...

perfectly good free mmorpg? *pukes* anyways dragongem was in development at 2004 october it went in development after 1~2 years maplestory started to be developed ; i wonder where in the world you got that info? lol it even came out in gamespot.co.kr maplestory 4/26/03

I have been trying to tell everyone that since I saw this game. No one listens. Now to my point;

I honestly don't see why now, when ever there is a new 2d side-scroller [which I love, please make more!] it will always be a copy of Maple Story, and it will always be worse, that complete opposite, usually new = more, better, newer. Come on, most of you people making fun of Dragon Gem haven't even given it a try. That's like saying the the second 3d MMORPG was a copy of the first 3d MMORPG, or the second telovision was a copy of the first telovision of the second apple juice was a copy of the first apple juice, etc. See my point?

And I honestly don't see why Dragon Gem is so similar to Maple Story. Yes they are both 2d and side scrollers, and have a few of the saem skills. Okay, now what else is similar, if you say classes, you are honestly ******ed, Warroir, Archer, Wizard, and Thief are in about EVERY game nowadays so don't say that BS. Pet's? They are totaly different, Maple Story = Useless, Costs money, for looks. Dragon Gem = Tame them, Ride them. Please do tell me some other similarities because I doubt you'll find slim to none.

If the grammmar isn't totally correct but still readible then theres no reason to flame the author of the msg about his/her grammar.
