Well, Item mall nowadays is quite common to all massive multiplayer online - role playing game. Since almost all games is develop to be free by means of game time. I'm currently playing Atlantica online which was just released a week ago, so when Atlantica online was fully released, they as well released the item mall. So thus with other games, they do have an item mall. Thus it really have a big impact in-game? Share your thoughts.
Depends on the game. It can be game breaking in some (Conquer Online, Mabinogi) or of little gameplay effect (Maple Story) in others. It also depends on if the item mall purchaseables are tradeable/sellable ingame (Sword of the New World).
yeah its really depends on the game, if the cash shop is required(Zu and perfect world in later levels) then i don't think its worth it.
Thankfully there are some games that don't require a cash shop.
i rather p2p monthly then each game having a cash shop. cause people will do anything to earn more money, and if every game becomes fp2 u will see the prices of an ingame item goes up and up till u pay the same for 1-3 things then u would do normally per month. also u get this richass noob owning a poor pro thing.
It's true that, on the long run, paying a monthly fixed fee results cheaper than wasting tons of cash on item mall stuff. Specially if the cash shop stuff creates an imbalance in the game, be it faster leveling or unbalancing powers on PvP, some people can get to burn some insane ammounts of cash (the guild leader of a guild I was in on Holic got to waste over 100 usd on the cash shop, nuff said...).
But not the items persay, the imbalance gets bigger if the item mall stuff or the item mall currency itself are tradeable ingame, as it makes players that are able to buy it whealthier in the game, since selling the item mall credits can ammass them a lot of ingame cash fast (that's the case of Talisman Online and Ogre Island for example).
I have to say that the only cash shop I have ever made purchases from was not on a MMORPG, Dragonfable. 15 bucks for the full content and 10 two years later for some dragon coins... and I'm happy with it.
Item mall in games are like paying them for extra feature.
I think it's okay to have item mall.
They need money to eat. Nothing in the world comes for free.
