Hitler ran for chancellor, but lost in a landslide. However, through coercionhe got the chancellor to sign power over to him. With his newly granted powers he elimnated all potential opponents to him politically, from outlawing tose parties to actually killing off their members/leader (night of longh knives). Then basically you only had one man ever running for election from then on out, something like the elcetions you would see in Zimbabwe or related banana republics.
