Default Does such a game exist?

Does any game exist were a Mage can wield a Sword/Shield and still be REALLY powerful? (Kinda like Silkroad) Or a game were you can Dual Classes like Warrior/Cleric and not have to switch weapons? You can just use your sword and still cast healing spells?(besides DOMO)

I'm just really intrested in knowing if such a F2P game exists. I was watching a movie In the name of the king: Dungeon Siege Tale. And the mages were fighting with swords and stuff. And know im curious. If such a game exists?

I've heard Mabinogi was like that.
But the graphics are like horrible.
And it doesnt really come off as a "RPG" to me.
More of a Fantasy Life MMO.
Thank you though. I appreciate it.

Still up, does anyone know of any?

*sigh* I hate it when i finally find something good and it never turns out, don't you guys? haha.

I was just wondering. Cause a mage with a sword and shield seemed so friggin cool.

MMORPGs might not be numerous but Single Player RPGs sometimes use this they are called Battle Mages(Eg: Morrowind)

the OP doesn't like mabinogi's graphics, yet mabinogi is pretty much the only game so far where you can use a sword/shield and be a magic user.

Theres SMT: Imagine, but you can't use shields to my knowlage there.

I would give Mabinogi a try but it costs money to actually get somewhere in the game.

Not 100% sure about it but, in Runes of Magic I think that if you pick a dual class like Mage/Warrior, Mage/Knight, etc... you have the abilities of a mage (or priest if you prefer so), and get some skills and weapon/armor proficiences from the Warrior or Knight class, so you could be a spellcaster in medium/heavy armor and wielding a sword and shield.

That's if the dual class system works the way I think it does =P

    Final Fantasy XI
    Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted
    Ultima Online

Would be the best imo to fit the bill.

And dont forget DDO. but he is looking for something F2P. The OP is SOL, since he will not make a compromise.

Eitherr he goes for poor graphics and deal with it, or he goes with a P2P game.

Personally I don't know much about f2p games beside DOMO, but if you are looking for a game with decent graphics, I suggest you spend some money on it Here are some suggestions:

Guild Wars (Buy to Play, then Free to Play)
Final Fantasy XI (Buy to Play, then Pay to Play)
Lineage 2 (I think you can mix classes later on...) (Pay to Play), although the private servers seem to be pretty decent
