Vegeta as well as the Super Saiyan power did not appear until Dragon Ball Z.

Also, Bulma used rocket launchers and small fire arms in the original series.

I would say that Saiyans are based on Asians. If not because of the genetic issues with his sons and grandchild, then because Goku was based on a blonde Chinese monkey with an awesome bo staff. ;-/

..Saiyan? I was under the impression that as I'm pretty sure you don't know that Goku is an alien for quite some time, you're supposed to assume he's Asian. Anyway.. isn't Goku like.. 10 in DB? Compare.

Again...at the end of DB goku was like 16 or 18 or something? And I highly doubt this is going by the story at all anyway.
